Discover Valletta's Artistic and Architectural Heritage
Walk towards the Barakka Lift and go all the way up to the gardens.
Enjoy the panoramic view of Grand Harbour, one of the biggest natural harbours in the Mediterranean. From here, start discovering the many faces of the city, including East Street, where many movies have been shot.
Arrive at the Lower Barakka Gardens, which overlook the picturesque old harbour.
Head to the centre of the city and stop in front of various iconic buildings that once belonged to the Knights of Malta, such as the Grandmaster's Palace, now the office of the President of Malta, St George's Square, and the old Manoel Theatre.
Continue down Republic Street, the main commercial area of the city, and stop at the convent cathedral of St John's, where a visit inside is a must, not only because it is a masterpiece of Baroque architecture, but also because it houses works by Caravaggio.
Another stop will be at La Vallette Square and Castille Square, where you can see from the outside the Auberge de Castille and Auberge of Italy, both housing government entities.
Finish the tour at the entrance of the city and the new Parliament building, designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano.
