7-Day Laos History and Nature Tour from Vientiane with Wat Phu

• After breakfast, be picked up and transferred to the bus station.

• Continue by road via Pakse to Champasak.

• After breakfast, get a chance to enjoy this beautiful little town before saying goodbye.
• Cross the Mekong River by ferry to Ban Muang to continue your journey further south.
• On the way, travel to Kietngong village for an elephant riding experience to Phou Asa, another archaeological site.
• Make a stop at the famous Khonephapheng waterfalls, the largest waterfall in Southeast Asia. Known as the "Niagara of the East," it is visited before continuing to Don Khong, the largest island in the Mekong River sub-region known as the 4000 Islands, one of the most scenic areas in Laos.

Stay overnight at Kongmany Hotel.

• After breakfast, explore the hidden gems of Khong Island by bike.
• To discover local life, visit Vat Chomthong and Vat Kangkhong and drive along the Mekong riverside.
• Head to the southern loop and travel around the island to see how the locals process sugar, with a chance to sample fresh sugar juice.
• Continue to the tip of Khong Island to see the hometown of the former president of Laos, Khamtay Siphandone.

Arrive back at your hotel in the early afternoon.

Spend your free time however you like.

• Travel by boat to Khone and Det Island in the morning.
• Upon arrival in the local village of Ban Khone, explore the small island by local tuk-tuk and stop at the bridge linking Khone and Det Island for a photo opportunity.
• See an array of relics from the French colonial era and retrace the old colonial past, including French colonial buildings and the remnants of the first Lao railway with its locomotive.
• Visit Liphi Waterfall, one of the most beautiful waterfalls marking the end of the Lao border with Cambodia.

Return to Khong Island.

• Enjoy a cruise to Nakasang.

• Get picked up by van from Nakasang and continue driving to Pakse.

Stay overnight in Pakse.

• Drive to Vientiane airport after breakfast.
