Delphi, Hosios Loukas Monastery and Arachova

  • Meet your tour driver and travel along the national highway towards northern Greece, passing the plain of Thebes, the city of Levadia, and Distomo.
  • Continue to the slopes of Mount Parnassus before arriving in Delphi.
  • Visit Hosios Loukas Monastery, which represents the second golden age of Byzantine art, and admire its golden mosaic decoration and fine architecture.
  • Head to the site of Delphi, an ancient Greek sanctuary of Pan-Hellenic character dedicated to the god Apollo. It functioned as an oracle and was considered the centre of the world.
  • See the Gymnasium and the secondary sanctuary of Athena Pronea.
  • Visit the Temple of Apollo, where Pythia delivered the oracles, as well as the theatre and the stadium.
  • Continue to the famous museum to see the renowned charioteer and gold and ivory statues.
  • Have lunch in the modern village of Delphi with views of the mountains of Fokis.
  • Proceed to the village of Arachova, built on a cliff 900 m above sea level and located very close to the Parnassus ski resort.
  • Later, your driver will drop you off at your accommodation.
