Trip details

What's Included

  • Mountain guides: one leading Russian tour guide for the Elbrus South to North traverse program, plus several assistants on the summit day, with a strict ratio of 1 guide per 3 climbers. This means that if there are four clients in a group, there will be two guides for them. The tour has no limitation on summit attempts for the group. However, if part of the group reaches the summit while some members fail to do so, summiting is considered successful, and any additional attempts are available for an additional payment.

  • Services of a cook.

  • Hotel accommodation in double and triple rooms. Duration of stay depends on the schedule.

  • Accommodation in huts. Duration of stay depends on the Elbrus climbing schedule.

  • All transfers mentioned in the itinerary, including lifts, from and to the airport or station.

  • Meals three times a day throughout the trip: dinner on the first day and breakfast on the last day.

  • All required permits and registrations.

  • Group equipment, including ropes, ice screws, radios, a first-aid set, and satellite navigators/GPS.

What's Not Included

  • Snowcat on the summiting day

  • Single accommodation

  • Personal equipment

  • Any deviations from the original schedule

Know before you go

  • Any of the Elbrus climbs from the South can be turned into an Elbrus South to North traverse. However, only with this program can the guides offer you a lower price - equal to that of climbing with a group - even if you choose to climb alone, without a group.
  • Any other Elbrus climbs from the South outside this program can also be followed by a descent on the northern side, but in that case, you will have to pay the extra expenses for additional logistics and guide services.
  • The Elbrus South to North traverse consists of a pretty easy climb that allows for comfortable, quality acclimatization and the chance to enjoy Elbrus views from different perspectives.
  • You will also get the experience of climbing in roped parties and that of a very long day, though your day would not be very difficult if you choose to use a Snowcat to shorten part of the southern route to an altitude of 5,100 m. In any case, you should be in good physical shape, since on the northern side of Elbrus there are no vehicles to rely on.
