Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu and Tour Briefing

  • Meet the tour representative at the airport.

  • Attend a briefing about the tour.

  • Meet your mechanic, after which your original passports will be collected, followed by some other simple formalities for the Tibetan visa.

  • Transfer to your hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 02

Test Ride and Kathmandu Valley Exploration

  • While your visa is being prepared on the second day of the tour, you can visit UNESCO heritage sites in the Kathmandu Valley.

  • Visit famous Hindu temples, Buddhist stupas, and ramble through typical villages to know more about the culture.

  • Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 03

Ride from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi

  • Today, proceed to Syabrubesi.

  • Start with a steep winding descent to Trishuli, surrounded by beautiful scenery, as you ride past rolling hills, lush forests, and free-flowing streams (120 km, approx. 5-6 hrs, 2,000 m).

Arrival and overnight stay in Syabrubesi.

Cross to Kyirong

  • Proceed to the Nepal-Tibet border town of Kyirong.

Arrival and overnight stay (60 km, approx. 1-2 hrs, 2,700 m).

Day 05

Ride from Kyirong to Saga

  • Today, you will ride to the picturesque Tibetan town with a beautiful landscape.

  • Watch out for deep valleys and ride along the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra River.

Arrival and overnight stay in Saga (250 km, approx. 5-6 hrs, 4,640 m).

Day 06

Scenic Ride from Saga to Shakya

  • Enjoy a scenic ride as you cross over 5 mountain passes and follow a route towards a sprawling river valley and picturesque traditional villages.

Arrival and overnight stay (350 km, approx. 7-8 hours).

Day 07

Sakya Monastery and Gyantse Kumbum

  • Today, you will have the opportunity to visit and explore Sakya Monastery, the center of the Sakya order.

  • Next, you will proceed to Gyantse.

  • In Gyantse, you will visit Gyantse Kumbum, the most unique and magnificent building in Tibet.

Overnight stay (244 km, approx. 5-6 hrs, 3,950 m).

Day 08

Ride from Gyantse to Lhasa

  • Today, proceed to Lhasa.

  • On the way, watch out for the turquoise-colored Lake Yamdrok.

Arrival and overnight stay in Lhasa (265 km, approx. 5-6 hrs, 3,650 m).

Day 09

Cultural Exploration in Lhasa

  • Visit the majestic Potala Palace and Drepung Monastery.

  • Observe intricate Tibetan art while listening to ancient Buddhist chantings.

Return Ride from Lhasa to Lhatse

  • Begin the return journey and ride north to Lhatse.

  • On the way, you will ride along the Gyatso La Pass (5,248 m), which is the highest section of the journey.

Ride to Everest Base Camp

  • Today, you will ride to Rongbuk and to the site of Everest Base Camp.

Overnight stay (186 km, approx. 4-5 hrs, 4,920 m).

Everest Base Camp Excursion and Tingri

  • Enjoy an excursion around Everest Base Camp on a dirt road along the Dzakar Chu River and board the coach for a ride that lets you catch awe-inspiring views of the highest mountain in the world.

  • Proceed to Tingri.

Arrival and overnight stay (102 km, approx. 3-4 hours, 4,050 m).

Day 13

Ride from Tingri to Kyirong

  • Proceed to Kyirong.

  • Ride through the vastness of the Tibetan landscape, the highest plateau in the world, witnessing the breathtaking views of the beautiful Himalayan range.

Return from Kyirong to Kathmandu

  • Today, you will cross the Nepal-Tibet Friendship Bridge and ride towards Kathmandu.

Know before you go

  • At least 30 days are required to process the permits for the motorcycles.
  • The process includes importing the bikes into Tibet (PRC) and exporting them back to Nepal.
  • All processes are handled through the Ministry of Transport.
  • We require details of the bikes, a copy of the registration (bill books), and passports plus driving licenses at least 60 days in advance.
