The itinerary

Day 01

From Peleș Castle to Omu Peak Hut

  • Meet your guide in Brașov.

  • Start the tour at Sinaia resort, where the Romanian Royal Family built Peleș Castle, the only luxurious castle in Romania, in the 19th century. If you want to skip a difficult climb to 2,000 m altitude, you can take the cable car.

  • Hike for 8-10 hours across the plateau to Babele Hut at 2,200 m altitude, and then continue to Omu Peak at 2,505 m altitude.

Day 02

From Omu Peak to Bran Village

  • Descend from Omu Peak to Bran Village. The route involves about 7 hours of hiking, with a few technical descents.

  • Visit Bran Castle, also known as "Dracula Castle", and learn more about the Romanian Royal Family, Vlad the Impaler, and Dracula.

  • Stay for one night in Bran in a nice resort, or return to Brașov, which is 40 km away by road.

Know before you go

  • The starting point is 50 km from Brașov, a good base when visiting the Prahova Valley.
  • The trail climbs to 2,000 m altitude, continues across the Bucegi Plateau to Omu Peak at 2,500 m altitude, and then descends to Bran village.
  • The route can be completed in one day by experienced hikers or in two days.
  • Once you finish the trail, you can stay for one night in Bran in a nice resort or return to Brașov, which is 40 km away by road.
  • If you are not an experienced hiker, the tour can be completed in two days. Camping or hotel accommodation overnight on the route can be organized. In this case, the tour will be considered a "private tour."
