Moonlight Ziplining Adventure from Cape Town

The tour starts at 18:00, which means you need to leave Cape Town by 16:30.

  • 18:00: The briefing begins and ends with sandwiches and salads. You will be briefed on the technique beforehand.

  • A 30-minute drive takes you to the starting point.

  • The site is fully guided, with 13 platforms, 11 slides, and a swing bridge.

  • A 30-minute drive takes you back to HQ; the tour finishes at around 00:30.

  • Be prepared to get back to your hotel at around 02:00 in the morning.

  • The guides are well trained, and your safety is their number one priority. You will be instructed when to turn the headlamp on and off; this applies only to the nighttime ziplines.

  • Transport to and from the site in Elgin, about a 90-minute drive from Cape Town on the N2 Highway. Cost: $80, depending on group size.

Know before you go

  • Wear a light windbreaker, especially at night. The weather can be extremely cold in the mountains, particularly after dark.

  • The sunset-full moon zipline is a limited edition and runs during the summer season only.

  • Daytime tours operate between 08:00 and 15:00.

  • Includes a full-body harness and helmet.

  • The shortest slide is 90 metres.

  • The longest slide is 320 metres.

  • You need to be reasonably fit for the one-kilometre hike out at the end of the zipline tour.

  • If you are coming from Cape Town via the N-2, turn left to Elgin/Grabouw (opposite Peregrine Farm Stall). Turn onto the R-321 towards Villiersdorp/Franschhoek. Continue along the R321 for 11 kilometres.
