Arrive at Postojna Cave, the most visited cave in Europe, renowned for its rich limestone formations. It is also home to the "baby dragons," the largest animals that live underground.
Continue to Predjama Castle, which impresses with its dramatic position in the rock cliff. Many stories are connected to the castle, including one about the Slovenian Robin Hood.
As you drive closer to the Adriatic coast, the countryside begins to change. Vineyards and olive groves become common in the area, along with beautiful views of the sea.
Pass by the coastal towns of Koper and Izola before arriving at a gem called Piran. It is known for its narrow medieval streets, Venetian architecture, numerous restaurants, and a beach if you want to take a swim.
Stop for lunch, then return to Ljubljana in the evening.
