15-Day Tanzania Culture and Wildlife Safari with Hadzabe and Natron

• After breakfast, start the safari from Arusha to Tarangire National Park. The national park is famous for its dense wildlife population, which is most spectacular between June and September, the dry period. During this time, thousands of wildebeest, buffalo, and oryx migrate from the dry Maasai steppe to the Tarangire River, looking for water. Lions, leopards, and other predators follow the herds. Tarangire is home to over 500 varieties of birds.
• Have lunch, enjoy a late afternoon game drive, then continue to the camp for dinner and an overnight stay at the campsite.

• After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park with a lunch box for morning game drives.
• Begin the game drive through the underground water forest, then continue into the acacia woodland savanna and open land, passing a hot water spring before reaching Lake Manyara, home to many flamingos and other water birds. The park is also home to tree-climbing lions, hippos, elephants, zebras, buffaloes, giraffes, baboons, blue monkeys, vervet monkeys, warthogs, and more. About 350 species of birds have been recorded here.
• Have a picnic lunch, followed by dinner and an overnight stay at the campsite.

• After breakfast, drive to the Mto wa Mbu area and begin the walking safari in Mto wa Mbu village.
• Visit 120 Tanzanian tribes and learn how they live together without conflict.

• After visiting the Maasai tribe, have dinner and overnight at Sunbright campsite or similar.

• Leave the camp after breakfast and drive with a lunch box as you head towards Lake Natron. Along the way, pass rugged mountains where vultures soar and baboons bark, dusty gorges where the Maasai bring their cattle to drink, and endless grassy plains.
• Arrive at Lake Natron at around 4:30 p.m. for dinner and an overnight stay at a campsite near the lake.

• Pack all your belongings after breakfast at 06:00 a.m. and load them onto a Maasai donkey.
• Then start hiking from Acacia, crossing beneath Lengai Mountain and reaching Lake Natron after about 3 hours of trekking.
• Along the way, learn about the different layers of rock formations.
• Upon reaching Lake Natron, meet your car waiting for you under the mountain.
• Take the car to the Lake Natron campsite at Ngaresero Village.
• After resting for a few hours and having lunch, visit the Engare Sero Footprint Site on the southern shore of Lake Natron in Northern Tanzania. It is reported to host one of the best-preserved sets of fossilized hominid footprints in the world. Then drive to the beautiful waterfall flowing from the highlands toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

• Very early in the morning, at 1:00 a.m., drive to the base of Ol'doinyo Lengai Mountain to begin the climb.
• Reach the summit at sunrise and spend some time there before descending to the mountain's base.
• From there, transfer by jeep to the camp for a shower and rest.
• Have dinner and overnight at Lake Natron campsite.

• Early in the morning, before sunrise, enjoy a spectacular tour of the Soda Lake of Natron and the beautiful waterfall flowing from the highlands toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Lake Natron lies in a beautiful scenic area below the Rift Valley escarpment. It has such a high concentration of sodium that the water is difficult to touch.
• Enjoy excellent game viewing and birding in this harsh landscape, where dry-country species such as gerenuk, lesser kudu, and oryx can be seen. Natron is also the only known breeding ground for East Africa's millions of lesser flamingos, which cover the lake.
• After lunch, continue with game viewing, then drive back to the camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

• During the afternoon game drive in the park, you might see lions, leopards, elephants, cheetahs, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, eland, wild dogs, gazelles, crocodiles, and more. The birdlife also includes migratory species.
• Continue with game viewing around Seronera or eastward.
• Have dinner and overnight at a campsite in Seronera.

• After lunch, set off again for an afternoon game drive until sunset at 06:30 p.m.
• Head back to camp for dinner and an overnight stay at the campsite in Seronera.

• Lunch will be served at the picnic site in the crater at Ngoitoktok Swamp, a hippo pool.
• After lunch, drive to Lake Eyasi for dinner and an overnight stay at Lake Eyasi campsite.

• Have a picnic lunch, then continue with a Datoga village tour.
• Return in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay at the bush camp.

• Start the tour early with a bushman guide to meet a group of resident Hadzabe people.
• Enjoy the Hadzabe tour, walking into the bush with the only hunter-gatherers remaining in the East African region.
• The Hadzabe speak a click-based language and move their encampments with the seasonal movements of the wildlife.
• Your guide is a member of the group, so he will explain their customs and way of life to you.
• You can hunt, track wildlife, make fire, and even take honey from bee nests with the Hadzabe people.
• Then drive to Arusha for dinner and overnight.

• Pick up from your hotel in Arusha at around 07:30 a.m. and drive on a tarmac road for 38 km to Arusha National Park (552 km2) with a packed lunch for a walking safari inside the park with a park ranger.
• With over 400 species recorded in such a small park, Arusha National Park offers an impressive bird count. The combination of the forest reserve, the Momella Lakes, and the Ngurdoto Crater creates this remarkable diversity.
• A closer look at the birds can be arranged with a walking safari or canoeing.
• Momella Lake is one of the best places in Tanzania to see waterbirds. Flamingos, pelicans, little grebes, a variety of herons, ducks, and waders are common. Other birds include hartlaub's turaco, eagles, lesser and greater flamingos, geese, hamerkop, spur-winged geese, woodpeckers, secretary birds, and grey parrots.
• Animals such as zebras, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, waterbucks, colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, baboons, and many others also live here.
• You will also walk inside the park for at least 2 hours with the ranger.
