Visit tombs, mosques, forts, memorials, and observatories of national importance, including India Gate and Humayun's Tomb in Delhi, the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort in Agra, and Amber Fort and Jantar Mantar in Jaipur. This 7-day journey brings together some of the region's most iconic monuments and architectural landmarks.

The itinerary

Day 01

Arrival in Delhi and Hotel Check-in

Upon arrival at Delhi Airport, you will be met by a representative and transferred to the hotel, where you will be assisted with check-in.

Day 02

Old and New Delhi Sightseeing

After breakfast, proceed for the sightseeing of Old Delhi, covering Jama Masjid, the last monument built by Shah Jahan in 1656. The Jama Masjid was designed to be a royal statement in many ways. It is located on a natural hill south of Chandni Chowk and was also called Masjid-I-Jahanuma (Mosque Commanding a View of the World).
After visiting Jama Masjid, take a rickshaw ride through the snaking narrow lanes arranged according to trades, which is a fascinating experience. Some of these are Dariba, the silver and jewellery market, and Kinari Bazaar, specializing in trousseau wear and theatrical costumes.
Later, drive past the Red Fort, which was constructed in 1638. The fort lies along the Yamuna River. It was the residence of the Mughal emperors of India for nearly 200 years until 1857. It is located in the centre of Delhi and houses a number of museums.
Make your way to Raj Ghat, a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. A simple black marble platform marks the spot of his cremation on 31 January 1948. It is left open to the sky, while an eternal flame burns perpetually at one end.
Later, visit Humayun's Tomb, the first substantial example of Mughal architecture inspired by Persian architecture.
Then, drive past Lutyens Delhi, named after the leading British architect Edwin Lutyens. Lutyens laid out the central administrative area of the city.
At the heart of the city lies the impressive Rashtrapati Bhawan, formerly known as Viceroy's House, located on the top of Raisina Hill, and then India Gate, a national monument of India. Situated in the heart of New Delhi, it was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. It commemorates the 70,000 Indian soldiers who lost their lives fighting for the British Army during World War I. Return to the hotel in Delhi.

Day 03

Drive to Agra and Visit Agra Fort

After breakfast, proceed for a private road transfer to Agra (about 4 hours' drive).
Visit the Red Fort, which was built by the Mughals, though a fort had stood there since at least the 11th century. Agra Fort was originally a brick fort held by the Hindu Sikarwar Rajputs. Later, many Mughal rulers captured it, and when Emperor Akbar arrived in Agra in 1558, he ordered the fort to be renovated with red sandstone. Some 4,000 builders worked on it, and it was completed within a period of 8 years. This fort is basically a mixture of Hindu and Mughal architecture.
Then, you will be assisted with check-in at the hotel.

Day 04

Sunrise at the Taj Mahal and Drive to Jaipur

Begin with an early morning visit to the Taj Mahal, known as the "Crown of Palace," built by Shah Jahan as an eternal symbol of his love for his favourite and third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is widely recognized as "the jewel of Muslim art" in India and one of the most universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage. The structure took about 20,000 labourers and 22 years to complete.
Return to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, proceed for a private road transfer to Jaipur (about 6 hours' drive).
On the way, visit Chand Baori in Abhaneri village. Then, you will be assisted with check-in at the hotel.

Day 05

Amber Fort, City Palace and Jaipur Landmarks

After breakfast, proceed for a visit to Amber Fort, which is set amidst picturesque and rugged hills. Constructed by Raja Man Singh I in 1592, Amer Fort is known for its artistic style of Hindu elements. With its large ramparts, series of gates, and cobbled paths, the fort overlooks Maota Lake at its forefront. The aesthetic ambience of this formidable fort is seen within its walls on a four-level layout plan in a well-turned-out opulent palace complex built with red sandstone and marble, consisting of the Diwan-e-Aam or the "Hall of Public Audience," the Diwan-e-Khas, the Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace), and the Sukh Niwas. The fort can either be reached by jeep, on foot, or, subject to availability, on elephant back.
By afternoon, proceed to visit the City Palace. The palace consists of many different courtyards and gardens, which give an amazing view. The structure includes Mubarak Mahal, Chandra Mahal, Pitam Niwas Chowk, Diwan-I-Khas, Diwan-I-Aam, Maharani Palace, and Sri Govind Dev Ji Temple.
Then, drive past the Hawa Mahal, which is also known as the "Palace of Winds." It was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh and designed by Lal Chand Ustad in the form of the crown of Krishna, the Hindu god.
Later, visit the Observatory, also known as Jantar Mantar, which is a collection of many architectural astronomical instruments. The Observatory consists of fourteen major geometric devices for measuring time, predicting eclipses, tracking the stars' location as the earth orbits around the sun, ascertaining the declinations of planets, and determining the celestial altitudes and related ephemerides. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 06

Return to Delhi via Elephant Keeper Visit

After breakfast, proceed for a private road transfer to Delhi (about 5 hours' drive).
On the way, you can visit an Elephant Keeper to do elephant rides or just to feed them.
