Shifen Waterfall, Old Street and Sky Lantern Experience
Depart from Taipei for Shifen Waterfall by train, a journey of about 1.5 hours.
Walk for about an hour to discover the broadest waterfall in Taiwan, set within a beautiful forested mountainside. The waterfall measures 20 metres (66 ft) in height and 40 metres (130 ft) in width. On a sunny day, you may even catch sight of a rainbow by the waterfall.
From the waterfall, continue on a 15-20 minute walk to Shifen Old Street.
Gain a rich understanding of the area's coal-mining history.
Take photos by the Pingxi railway branch line, which was built in 1918 to transport coal.
Get ready for the Sky Lantern Festival, which is held here every year and is increasingly recognized globally as a major international folklore event.
Write your wishes on a sky lantern, light a candle at its base, and release it into the sky.
Photograph the moment as it takes flight.
Return to Taipei.
