Day 01

Taxila Museum and Gandhara Heritage Tour

• Pick up from the hotel and drive along the GT Road.

• After crossing the Margalla Hills, turn left from the Taxila bypass onto the Khanpur Lake road. About 4 km ahead is the Taxila Museum.

• Visit the site museum, where collections of Gandhara art are displayed. These pieces date from about 600 BC to 700 BC.

• Proceed to the two beautiful, well-maintained gardens attached to the museum building. Visitors can relax and enjoy the natural environment and weather.

The museum has a collection of stone-carved Buddhist sculptures. These were all discovered in Taxila during archaeological work. Local people adopted Gandhara art as a home industry and made some Buddhist stupas and statues from stone, as Taxila is famous for its stonework.
