The itinerary

Day 01

Colombo to Pinnawala, Matale, and Dambulla

  • Meet your personal chauffeur-guide at the hotel, then drive to the Elephant Orphanage at Pinnawala. The orphanage was established to feed, nurse, and house young elephants abandoned by their mothers.

  • Proceed to Habarana to enjoy an elephant-back safari.

  • Continue into the Cultural Triangle region.

  • Visit the spice garden in Matale and then head to Dambulla.

  • Explore the rock cave temple and see some of the frescoes that date back 2,000 years.

  • Enjoy dinner, breakfast, and an overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 02

Habarana to Ancient Polonnaruwa and Back

  • Visit the 2nd Capital of the Sinhalese Kings, dating back to the 11th and 12th centuries. The entire landscape of Polonnaruwa is surrounded by huge man-made reservoirs, most notably Parakrama Samudraya.

  • Witness the Gal Vihara complex, one of the best landmarks of Sri Lankan fine sculptures.

  • Return to Habarana late in the afternoon.

  • Dinner, breakfast, and an overnight stay at the hotel.

Habarana to Colombo with Optional Anuradhapura Excursion

  • Optional excursion to Anuradhapura.

  • Transfer to the hotel; end of tour.
