Day 1: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
After breakfast and trek briefing, drive to Kilimanjaro National Park gate to register and commence the trek.
Walk through the rainforest towards Mandara Huts. A side trip to Maundi Crater can be a good way to view surrounding areas, including Northern Tanzania and Kenya.
While trekking through the forest, look for towering Eucalyptus trees, bird life, and Colobus monkeys.

Day 2: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
Leave the glades of the rainforest to follow an ascending path on the open moorlands towards Horombo huts.
From here, enjoy the amazing views of Mawenzi and the summit of Kibo.
Look for giant lobelias and groundsels.
After a while, it is possible to start feeling the effects of high altitude.
Arrive at Horombo huts and stay overnight.

Day 3: Rest Day at Horombo Hut
Enjoy a full day of rest at Horombo Hut with an optional hike to Mawenzi Peak.

Day 4: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
After breakfast, start ascending towards Kibo hut.
Pass the last watering point while walking onto the saddle of Kilimanjaro between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi, where vegetation begins with upper heath-land and disappears into a 'moonscape'.
Arrive at Kibo hut for dinner, rest, and preparation for the summit climb.

Day 5: Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut
Early in the morning (midnight to 2 am), commence the journey towards the summit on steep and heavy scree or snow up to Gilman’s point located on the crater rim.
Ascend Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, and enjoy the unbelievable view.
Have your picture taken at the summit for friends and family.
Begin descending the summit.
Stop on the way for lunch and rest at Kibo hut before continuing on to Horombo hut.

Day 6: Horombo Hut to Moshi
After breakfast, begin a steady descent through the moorland to Mandara hut.
Continue descending through the lush forest path to the National Park gate at Marangu and collect a climbing certificate.
Transfer back to the hotel in Moshi.
