The itinerary

Day 01

Nairobi to Masai Mara Game Reserve

  • Get picked up from the hotel at 07:30 am and drive to the Masai Mara Game Reserve. Masai Mara is the northern part of the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem and one of Kenya's most favoured game-viewing areas. It is the Africa of the imagination, with endless reaches of acacia-dotted grasslands studded with hazy hills.

  • Enjoy lunch at the camp or lodge, followed by afternoon game-viewing drives with your Kenyan safari guide/driver.

Accommodation at the selected camp or lodge.

Day 02

Full-Day Game Drives in Masai Mara

  • Enjoy full-day game-viewing drives in these vast, open grasslands of the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem, home to over 3 million large mammals.

    • Sunrise and sundowner offer the greatest moments for game viewing on these mystic plains, when the soft red hues of the sun give photographs the clarity of the actual African savannah.

    • Morning game viewing includes a drive to the Mara River to see resident hippos and crocodiles. The Mara is the land of African legend; lions are abundant throughout the park, as are elephants, giraffes, a variety of gazelle species, and zebra. Cheetahs and leopards are also regularly seen and, less commonly, the rhino.

  • In the late afternoon, drive back for dinner and an overnight stay at the selected camp or lodge.

    • Optional visit: A cultural tour to a Masai Village can be arranged for $20 per person.

    • Optional: A hot air balloon ride can be arranged this morning, followed by the game drive, for $430 per person.

Day 03

Sunrise Game Drive and Return to Nairobi

  • Go on a pre-breakfast sunrise game-viewing drive to see leopard, cheetah, lion, and other cats hunting. This is the best time to spot the big cat family making a kill for their breakfast or lunch as the sun rises.

  • Return to camp in time to enjoy a full breakfast before departing with an en-route game-viewing drive as you leave the Mara region for Nairobi.

  • Break for lunch at Narok/Mai Maiu Maasai administration towns.

  • After lunch, proceed to Nairobi.

  • Arrive in Nairobi between 04:00 pm and 05:00 pm.

Meal Plan: Breakfast & Lunch.
