Day 01

Arrival in Accra and Hotel Transfer

  • Meet your tour guide on arrival at Kotoka International Airport in Accra and transfer to your hotel in an air-conditioned standard car. Refresh and relax, then visit nearby locations or go for an Accra city tour if time permits.

Day 02

Accra Landmarks and Aburi Excursion

  • Meet your guide at 8:30 am and depart on a guided tour of Accra.
  • Visit the Kwame Nkrumah Monument, Independence Square, Makola Market, historic Jamestown, the W.E.B. Du Bois Center, and fashionable Oxford Street in Osu.
  • Then head to the Craft Market, handmade glass beads workshops, Aburi Botanical Gardens, and Aburi Craft Market.

Overnight in Aburi.

Day 03

Journey to Kumasi and Ashanti Craft Traditions

  • This morning, after breakfast, depart Accra for Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
  • Pass several scenic villages and charming towns through the evergreen forests on the 5-and-a-half-hour drive to the home of the Ashantis.
  • On arrival, visit the Ashanti Craft Village and experience Kumasi nightlife.

Day 04

Kumasi Cultural Heritage Tour

  • Visit the Bonwhire Kente cloth weaving village and check out Adinkra cloth stamping and wood carving in Kumasi.

  • Go to the National Cultural Center, one of Ghana's best museums, visit Manhyia Palace, the home of the Ashanti King, and see the Komfo Anokye Sword in Kumasi.

  • Shop at Kejetia, West Africa's largest outdoor market.

Day 05

Slave Trail and Historic Elmina

  • Leave Kumasi very early in the morning and head to Cape Coast and Elmina.

  • Stop at the Last Bath place and the Slave Cemetery.

  • Then visit Elmina Castle, Posuban Shrines, and Fort Jago.

  • Follow the slave trail to the coast, stopping at a former slave market and cemetery, and visit the World Heritage Site of Elmina Castle, the oldest European structure in Africa.

  • Explore the Posuban Shrines, Fort San Jago, and the fishing lagoon in central Elmina.

Overnight at a good hotel.

Day 06

Kakum Canopy Walk and Wildlife

  • Today, proceed to Kakum National Park to see the crocodile pond and birds.
  • In the morning, visit West Africa's highest rainforest canopy walkway at Kakum.
  • Explore nearby crocodile ponds and a weaver bird community in Elmina.

Overnight at a good hotel.

Day 07

Return to Accra and Departure

  • Depart for Accra. Relax at Labadi Beach Resort and later transfer to the airport for your onward flight back to your country.
