South Coast Waterfalls, Skaftafell and Jökulsárlón
Depart early from the capital city of Reykjavík for southeast Iceland, travelling along the beautiful southern shoreline to the magical glacial lagoon of Jökulsárlón, where you will stop for 1.5 hours.
On the way, pass some small, charming villages as well as the Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, and Skaftafell National Park, where you will stop for 30 minutes. The park is dominated by Vatnajökull, Europe's largest ice cap, and is home to the island's highest peak, Hvannadalshnjúkur (2111 m).
From Skaftafell, continue to Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon. See amazing blocks of ice that have broken off from Vatnajökull, Europe's biggest glacier. These blocks of ice drift slowly toward the ocean, which is not far away.
Visitors can also take a boat tour on the lagoon during the summertime.
After visiting the lagoon, head back to Reykjavík.
