Dawn Visit to the Floating Market
Leave at 5 in the morning and walk for five minutes from the hotel to the river. From there, travel by slow boat to the floating market, a journey that takes about an hour.
The boat is small, without a roof, and open to the sky.
As you approach the floating market, watch sellers and buyers rowing small traditional canoes from the villages along the river to the meeting place.
The journey to the floating market takes place at dawn, when the market is active between four and ten in the morning.
As the sun rises, the number of canoes increases, and around noon they slowly begin to disappear.
When the weather is very hot, the vendors shelter behind their wide hats.
Dressed in bright colors, the scene is wonderfully colorful, with women selling fruits, cakes, and more.
The vendors have their faces painted white to look prettier, using face powder.
You will see limes, bananas, a type of apple, soursop, pumpkins, vegetables, carrots, watermelon, cucumbers, eggplants, and more for sale.
