3-Day Ijen and Mount Bromo Trekking Tour from Surabaya or Malang

Transfer from the airport, hotel, or train station in Surabaya or Malang to the small town of Bondowoso or Banyuwangi Regency, where Ijen Crater is located. The journey takes approximately 6-7 hours by private air-conditioned car, with a possible stop for lunch at a local restaurant along the way.

Arrive in Bondowoso or Banyuwangi for your overnight stay.

04:00 AM: Travel to the village of Licin and then continue to the slopes of Mount Ijen, passing through plantations and rainforest. This is one of the few remaining rainforests on the island of Java, with giant ferns, plants, and big trees. This journey takes approximately 1 hour from the hotel by private car.

Arrive at the parking area of Mount Ijen. Ascend the slope of Mount Ijen to reach the peak of Ijen Crater, and along the path, enjoy the stunning natural scenery and fresh air.

Rest on the edge of the crater at an altitude of 2,883 meters and enjoy the best panorama of the sulphate lake. The sulfur mining workers go down into the crater and climb back up through a dangerous path on the edge of Ijen Crater, carrying loads of as much as 80 kilograms on their shoulders. This is a really dangerous and hard job. Do not forget to take pictures in this area as proof that you have visited one of the most amazing places on earth.

Descend the slope of Mount Ijen to the vehicle parking area for the journey back to Banyuwangi city for lunch at a local restaurant.

Continue the trip to the Mount Bromo area for about 4-5 hours.

Arrive in the Mount Bromo area, where you will stay with overlooking views of the active volcano of Mount Bromo, Mount Batok, and Mount Kursi around the Tengger region for an enjoyable stay.

04:00 AM: The 4WD jeep will bring you to the world's most famous viewpoint at Mount Pananjakan on the rim of the Tengger Caldera to see the sunrise over Mount Bromo, with active Mount Semeru in the background.

Continue to the sea sand of Mount Bromo's slope to the parking area of the 4WD vehicle.

Ascend the active Mount Bromo volcano by horse riding or on foot.

08:00 AM: The 4WD jeep will bring you back to the hotel for breakfast, a shower, and packing. Load your bags into the vehicle and then transfer out to Surabaya.

09:00 AM: Leave Mount Bromo for Surabaya or Malang, which will take about 3-4 hours.
