David Gareja, Badiauri, Bodbe Monastery and Signagi
After a short two-hour drive, begin your hike through the semi-desert area to the upper part of the sacred David Gareja monastery complex. The complex was founded in the 6th century by David (St. David Garejeli).
Follow a scenic trail to the Udabno monastery hills, which today form the natural borderline between Georgia and Azerbaijan. Feast your eyes on colorful landscapes as you travel to the sacred monastery, and see the monumental paintings inside the caves of Udabno Monastery. Enjoy the undivided attention of your guide as he shares stories about the monastery.
Travel to the village of Badiauri to see local bread bakeries and take part in baking Georgian bread. Continue your trip to Bodbe Monastery, known for its spectacular views, 9th-century three-nave basilica, ring bell tower, and modern church.
Arrive in Signagi, an 18th-century town with a rich history, fortifications, and defensive walls.
Drive back to Tbilisi.
