The journey
This 4-day safari takes you from Arusha to Mahale Mountains National Park for one of the most magical chimpanzee trekking experiences in Tanzania. Travel by shared charter flight via Katavi and Dodoma, then continue by boat to your lodge in Mahale. Track chimpanzees in their natural habitat, enjoy time in the park, and relax at the lodge with the option to spend your afternoon at leisure or perhaps try kayaking.
Once the families are spotted, you will have one magical hour to watch them.

Day by day
Catch the morning shared charter flight from Arusha to Mahale Mountains National Park via Katavi and Dodoma for refuelling.
On arrival, meet at the airstrip and be escorted for a boat transfer to your lodge.
Arrive for lunch and go for an afternoon or early evening chimpanzee trek.
Enjoy an evening sundowner, followed by dinner and an overnight stay at your lodge.
Rise early in the morning and head out for a chimpanzee trek, keeping a lookout for troops of chimps. Once the families are spotted, you will have one magical hour to watch them. After that magical hour, you must leave so that other visitors also get a chance to see them.
Return to the lodge for lunch. Spend the afternoon at leisure or perhaps try kayaking.
Overnight at your lodge.
Board the boat transfer to the Mahale airstrip and catch the shared charter flight back to Arusha.
