3-Day Gorilla Tracking Tour in Rwanda with Kigali City Visit

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by a tour representative.

After a briefing, depart on a scenic drive towards the northwest through the beautiful terraced hillsides that showcase Rwanda's landscape.

Arrive at Ruhengeri, the base for gorilla trekking at the Parc National des Volcans. Located only 25 km from the Uganda border, this relatively small city has a population of about 70,000 people, and its constant flow of people is quite remarkable.

The town offers great views of the surrounding volcanoes. People are very friendly here, and although Rwanda is a former Belgian colony and thus French-speaking, many people also speak English.

Have an early breakfast.

At 6:20 am, transfer to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for your first day of trekking.

At 7 am, receive a briefing from your trackers, then drive to the trailhead for the start of your amazing gorilla tracking adventure. Porters may be hired for the trek to carry your backpack and gear.

Upon sighting the gorillas, stay with them for a magical hour as they go about their daily lives - feeding, playing, resting, and raising their young.

Coming face to face with a giant silverback is truly one of the greatest wildlife experiences on earth.

Depart from the foothills of the volcanoes and drive south past coffee, tea, and banana plantations on a scenic journey back to Kigali.

Visit the Kandt Museum, see old Kigali and the craft centre, then continue to the genocide memorial site.

Learn about Rwanda's history from pre-colonial times to the 1994 genocide. You will also learn about other genocides in the world and how this country has dealt with that past. Continue touring to see the new developments in Rwanda - the recovery has been incredible and stands as a testament to humankind's resilience.
