Embark on an enchanting journey through the heart of the Langtang Valley, known as Namge Dagam, the sacred Beyul established by the revered Padmasambhava in the 8th century. Starting from Syabrubesi, a village about 148 kilometres northeast of Kathmandu, this trek follows the picturesque Langtang Khola through captivating forests of bamboo and rhododendrons before ascending through the Langtang Valley to elevations of up to 3,430 metres. Along the way, combine Himalayan trekking with cultural sightseeing in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur for a well-rounded Nepal experience.

Embark on an enchanting journey through the heart of the Langtang Valley, known as Namge Dagam, the sacred Beyul established by the revered Padmasambhava in the 8th century.

The itinerary

1
Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu and Trek Briefing

  • Arrival in Kathmandu, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The hotel is within walking distance of many good restaurants and shops.

  • You will have a briefing on your trek tonight, followed by the welcome dinner.

Day 02

Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing and Trek Preparation

  • Your sightseeing trip will start at 9 am after breakfast with a private vehicle and professional tour guide.

  • You will visit Pashupatinath Temple, Bouddhanath or Monkey Temple, and Kathmandu Durbar Square.

  • The rest of the day is spent preparing for your trek.

Day 03

Drive to Syabru Besi and Begin the Journey

  • This morning, drive on a northern highway that twists and climbs over mountain ridges to the Trishul Valley for lunch and onward to Syabru village for the night. The journey takes 8-9 hours through picturesque landscapes, mountain scenery, and local villages.

  • From Syabru, enjoy magnificent views of Mt. Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and Mt. Kerung of Tibet.

Relax tonight at a local teahouse.

Day 04

Trek Through Forest Trails to Lama Hotel

  • After breakfast, start trekking at your own pace. The trail ascends for two hours through the forest, followed by a climb of about an hour to reach Bamboo village (1,850m/6,068ft), where we will stop for lunch. This forested path follows the upstream route on well-stabilized trails, and you can observe birdlife around the bushes. Bee hives hanging on a cliff are another attraction for visitors.

  • Last but not least, climb the steep trail through the bamboo forest to reach Lama Hotel for an overnight stay at a local teahouse.

Day 05

Scenic Trek to Langtang Village

  • Today, enjoy a pleasant walk along the trail through rhododendron and pine forests for at least three hours to reach Ghora Tabela and stop for lunch. This area has a dense wild habitat, and many small babblers as well as many herbs can be found here.

  • After lunch, walk another three hours on the scenic trail to Langtang village.

Day 06

Trek to Kyanjin Gompa and Explore the Area

  • Leave the village and begin the leisurely three-hour trek to Kyanjin Gompa. From here, enjoy beautiful views of Mt. Ganchempo and Langtang Lirung.

  • We will visit the surrounding area, including the Yak Cheese Factory, Monastery, and local houses, before relaxing for the evening at the teahouse.

Day 07

Rest Day at Kyanjin Gompa with Optional Excursions

  • Today, enjoy a full day of rest and relaxation in the surrounding area. Take in the views, explore the local area, or visit some highlights such as Cherku-Ri (5,150 metres), a glacier walk, or Langshisha Kharka, depending on your fitness and interests.

Back to the hotel for an overnight stop.

Day 08

Explore Further and Return to Lama Hotel

  • Simply relax and enjoy the views, explore Kyanjing Ri, or visit Cherku-Ri (5,150 metres).

  • Alternatively, do an exploration of the glacier walk or Langshishakharka, depending on your fitness and interest.

  • Return to the hotel for an overnight stop.

Day 09

Trek to Thulo Syabru Through Forests

  • Our trail leads again through bamboo and rhododendron forests, where we may see local wild boar as well as other animals and birdlife on the way to Thulo Syabru.

  • En route, enjoy close views of marvellous Mt. Ganesh Himal.

  • Initially, following the river bank will be an easy downhill walk, but the last part climbs steeply uphill for a couple of hours to reach Thulo Syabru.

Day 10

Trek to Sing Gompa via Forest and Ridge Trails

  • The trail goes gradually uphill until we reach Phaprang Danda.

  • After lunch here, continue the trek through the dense forest. See different types of birds and wild animals, especially panda. The rhododendron flowers bloom from March to April.

  • The trail from Pharprang is fairly easy to Sing Gompa, which offers views of the Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, and Langtang ranges. Sing Gompa itself is a popular place for its monastery and cheese factory.

Day 11

Trek to Dhunche and Drive Back to Kathmandu

  • This morning, after breakfast, prepare for the trek to Dhunche. This is quite a pleasant walk along a forested path, passing some old Tamang villages, and takes about 3.30 hours.

  • After arriving in Dhunche, have lunch and then drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 12

Bhaktapur Cultural Sightseeing

  • Start the cultural tour in Bhaktapur city for 3 hours, then return to the hotel to relax, shop, and enjoy the rest of the day.

Day 13

Departure from Kathmandu

  • You will have enough time to go shopping before you leave for the airport.

    • For travel to Syabru Beshi and back to KTM from Dhunche, it is suggested that you take a private jeep due to the road condition and clients' comfort. USD 200 each way will be divided by the group size.
