The itinerary

1
Day 01

Arrival and Sightseeing in Skopje

  • Upon arrival, get picked up at the airport in Skopje.

  • Then, head to your hotel accommodation.

  • Go sightseeing in Skopje, including Skopje Fortress, St. Spas, the Old Town, the Square, the Museum of the National Struggle, and the Memorial House of Mother Teresa. Then, have lunch in a restaurant and enjoy some free time for individual walks.

Dinner and overnight.

Day 02

Matka Canyon, Tetovo and Mavrovo to Ohrid

  • After breakfast, visit Matka Canyon and the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin at Matka.

  • Then, continue to Tetovo and visit the Painted Mosque.

  • Have lunch in Mavrovo National Park and admire the panoramic view of the national park.

  • Head to the Monastery of St. John the Bigorski. The route leads along the picturesque gorge of the Radika River.

  • Continue to the Monastery of St. George the Victorious in Rajcica, located at the beginning of the town of Debar.

  • Reach Ohrid through the gorge of the Drim River and the field around the city of Struga. Proceed to your hotel accommodation.

Dinner and overnight.

Day 03

UNESCO Ohrid and Monastery of St. Naum

  • After breakfast, go on a tour of the old part of Ohrid. Ohrid is a city several thousand years old, located in the Ohrid Basin on the northern shore of Lake Ohrid. It is a UNESCO town because of its rich history, culture, and tradition. The old name of the city is Lihnidos (light). The fact that this city once had 365 churches earned it the name Jerusalem of the Balkans.

  • Visit the churches of St. Sofia (9th century), St. Mary - Perivlepta (13th century), St. Clement (9th century), and St. John - Kaneo (13th century). Also see the Ancient Amphitheater, Samuil Fortress, the archaeological site of Plaoshnik, the old Ohrid architecture, and House Robevci.

  • Head to the south of Lake Ohrid. On a rocky site rising high above the lake stands the Monastery of St. Naum. Around the monastery, beautiful scenery stretches out, with a small pond formed by the Drim River that has two natural islands.

Back to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 04

Heraclea, Bitola and Tikves Winery

  • After breakfast, visit the ancient city of Heraclea near Bitola. This site dates from the 4th century BC and was built by Philip II of Macedonia.

  • Take a walk along "Broad Alley" in Bitola, the former consuls' city.

  • Continue to the winery "Tikves". Enjoy exploring the largest winery in southeastern Europe, followed by wine tasting with snacks.

  • Return to the airport in Skopje.
