The itinerary

1
Day 01

Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve

  • On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, our Safari Guide will meet and greet and then depart for Samburu, located in the North rugged Semi desert region. Samburu Game Reserve is a wild and little visited region, well known for spectacular scenery and wildlife not found in the south: Reticulated Giraffe, the rare Grevy’s Zebra with its large furry ears, the Gerenuk Antelope standing on its hind legs to feed and Somali Ostriches with their distinctive blue legs.

  • Have lunch upon arrival at Samburu Camp.

  • Later, proceed on a ‘Spice’ game drive.

Dinner and overnight at the Samburu Riverside Camp on Full Board Basis.

Day 02

Full Day Game Drive in Samburu

  • Spend the full day in Samburu with morning and afternoon game drives.

  • See elephants, cheetah, leopard, eland, oryx, impala, dik-dik, waterbuck, and various birds.

    • Other areas of the reserve include the Uaso Nyiro River, where crocodiles sunbathe themselves on the banks. It also provides an oasis for a variety of game. Birds are abundant, with 365 species recorded, one for every day of the year.

    • In between the game drives, there is an opportunity to visit a Samburu village at an additional cost.

Dinner and overnight at the Samburu Riverside Camp on Full Board Basis.

Day 03

Samburu National Reserve to Lake Nakuru National Park

  • After an early breakfast, check out and depart for Lake Nakuru National Park.

    • Optional: Make a stopover at Thomson Falls in Nyahururu for viewing of the 81m waterfall.

  • Arrive in time for lunch at the hotel/campsite.

  • After lunch, proceed on an afternoon game drive in the park fame for its abundance of birdlife, including millions of flamingoes, rhino and scenic landscape.

  • Return to your hotel/campsite late in the evening.

Dinner and overnight at Nakuru Genevieve Hotel/WCK Campsite on a Full Board basis.

Day 04

Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara Game Reserve

  • Depart to Masai Mara after breakfast; this is where you will enjoy the herd of animals and the amazing way they co-exist amongst each other.

  • Get here by lunchtime; after you refresh, have lunch relax as you wait to start the afternoon game drive.

  • Get a closer look at the animal on the plains, with their endless vistas and enormous herds of grazing animals; look for the predators hidden in bushes or long grass, i.e. lion, cheetah and leopard. There are Hippos in the rivers and exotic birds everywhere.

Dinner and overnight at Manyatta Camp on a Full Board Basis.

Day 05

Full Day in Masai Mara

  • Spend the full day (from 7:30 am to 4 pm) game viewing across the rich, tree-studded grassland and rolling hills. This reserve is the most visited park in Kenya and the best for game as it has an extensive road and track network, which allows excellent photography and close viewing opportunities.

  • Spot great herds of plain game, black manned lions, leopards and cheetahs. It also has numerous elephants and virtually every type of wildlife to be found in Kenya. Antelopes, wildebeests, zebras and Maasai giraffes can be seen as well as scavengers like hyenas and vultures. Birdlife is also prolific, with over 450 species recorded.

  • Enjoy a picnic lunch beside the river as you watch hippos, and with luck, crocodiles basking on the rocks and one of the wildebeests crossing points.

Return to Manyatta Camp at 4 pm for dinner and overnight on a Full Board Basis.

Day 06

Full Day in Masai Mara

  • Go for an early morning balloon safari and bush breakfast or have a half-day game drive and cultural immersion in this great game reserve declared a “world wonder” by UNESCO due to the great wildebeest migration spectacle in the Mara-Serengeti ecosystem.

    • Optional Activity: At 4 pm, visit a nearby Masai village to see their nomadic lifestyle. (At an extra fee payable directly to the Masai villagers – The Masai are famous for their bravery, as they have co-existed with the animals over the years).

  • Rest of the evening is spent at leisure.

Dinner and overnight at Manyatta Camp on Full Board Basis.

Day 07

Masai Mara to Nairobi

  • After breakfast, depart Mara arriving in Nairobi for lunch at your own cost at the Carnivore.

  • In the afternoon, go for a free city tour of Nairobi.

  • Later, opt to do souvenir shopping before being transferred to the airport for your flight back home, Mombasa or Zanzibar.
