Poznań's Historic Landmarks and Local Flavours
Meet your guide at 9:00 AM near Pope John Paul the Second on Ostrów Tumski Island and begin your visit to Poznań's famous tourist spots.
On Ostrów Tumski Island, see the Psalter building, Saint Mary's Church, and the Cathedral where the first rulers of Poland were buried. You will also visit the remains of the I and II Cathedral, the circle of chapels such as Górka Chapel, the Golden Chapel with the remains of Mieszko I and Bolesław Chrobry, the Royal Chapel, the Archdiocese Museum, the former Lubrański Academy building, and the Jan Kochanowski monument.
Continue to the Old Market Square to admire the front elevation of the Renaissance Town Hall, the four fountains of Proserpine, Mars, Apollo, and Neptune, the merchants' houses, and the Pillory. At 12:00, watch the Goats fight on the Town Hall Tower, then see Górka Palace, the Parish Church of St. Stanislaus - one of the most beautiful Baroque churches in Poland - the Goats' sculpture on Collegiate Square, the St. Jan Nepomucen statue, Bamber's statue, the old city balance, the former home building to the Royal Guard called Odwach, and Działyński Palace.
At Przemysł Hill, visit the Royal Castle, the Franciscan's Church with the exceptional painting of Mother of God the Miracles, Honorable Lady of Poznań, the statue of the 15th Lancers Division, and the model of Old Poznań.
Then head to Plac Wolności to see Freedom Square, the former Bazar Hotel, the Raczyński Library, the National Museum, and the Arcadia Building.
On St. Martin Street, visit St. Martin's Church and enjoy a break at the exceptional and exclusive Café Kociak, which has been operating for the last 40 years. Here, taste Poznań's speciality: St. Martin's croissants.
You will also visit the Old Brewery, including its atrium, courtyard, and shopping arcade.
Later, continue to Malta Lake to see the recreation field around the lake and St. John of Jerusalem Church.
