Itinerary

1. Day 1: Visit to Negombo, explore traditional fishing culture

   • Visit the Negombo beach.

   • Travel to the Negombo fishing village.

   • Explore local fish markets.

   Overnight stay at Negombo.

2. Day 2: Negombo - Anuradhapura

   • Visit Anuradhapura (the first capital of the island country) archaeological site. See the Samadhi Buddha Statue, Thuparama Dagoba, Jethawanarama Dagoba, Abayagiri Dagoba, Mirisawetiya Dagoba, Somaramaya Dagoba, Twin ponds, Elephant pond, Brazen Palace, Museum, Moonstone, and the Guard stone.

   • See the Sri Maha Bodhi (Bo Tree).

   • Visit the Isurumuniya Temple, Wessagiriya, Ran Masu Uyana park, and the Ruwanweliseya Dagoba stupa.

   Overnight stay at Anuradhapura.

3. Day 3: Anuradhapurs - Mihintale - Aukana - Habarna

   • Tour the Mihintale (the world’s first declared sanctuary, and the cradle of Buddhism) archaeological site. See Kantaka Chetiya Dagoba, Ambasthala (Invitation Rock), Maha Seya Daboba, Monks’ Refectory & Relic House, Ancient Hospital, Assembly Hall, Naga Pokuna (Cobra Pond), Sinha Pokuna (Lion’s pond), Stairway, and famous Caves.

   • Visit the Kala wewa (man-made reservoir), Aukana giant Buddha Statue, ride on an elephant’s back, and do an Eco-tour through a village.

   Overnight stay at Habarana.

4. Day 4: Habarna - Polonnaruwa- Sigiriya- Habarna

   • Tour the Polonnaruwa (the second medieval capital of Sri Lanka) archaeological site. See the Museum, Parakrama Samudraya tank, Pothgul Vehera, Statue of Pulasthi Rishi, Wijaya maligaya (Kings’ palace), Kumara Pokuna (Royal Bath), Raja Sabha Mandapaya, Shiwa Temples, Watadage, Heatadage, Atadage, Thuparama Image House, Nissanka Latha Mandapaya, Gal potha (Stone Book), Sath Mahal prasadaya. Lankathilaka Image House, Thiwanka Image House, Ancient Hospital Complex, Rankoth Vehera Dagoba, Kiri Vehera Dagoba, and Lotus ponds.

   • Visit the wood carving Factory and the Sigiriya Lion Rock

   Overnight stay at Habarana.

5. Day 5: Habarna- Dambulla- Nalanda- Matale- Kandy

   • Visit the Cave temple in Dambulla.

   • Go to the Nalanda Gedige (an ancient cave stone temple).

   • Visit the Spice and Herbal Garden.

   • Proceed to the Batik factory.

   • See the famous Hindu Temple at Matale.

   • Enjoy a Sri Lankan Cultural Dance Show.

   Overnight stay at Kandy.

6. Day 6: Kandy- Pinnawala - Peradeniya- Kandy

   • Visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.

   • Go to the Royal Botanical Garden at Peradeniya.

   • Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Kandy:

     • Gem Museum and Lapidary.

     • Upper lake drive and city tours.

     • Kandy Market/ Bazaar area.

   Overnight stay at Kandy.

7. Day 7: Kandy - Temple of the Tooth Relic - Nuwara Eliya

   • See the Temple of the Tooth Relic.

   • Go to the Ramboda Waterfalls.

   • Visit a tea factory & plantation and discover the small city known as 'Little England'.

   Overnight stay at Nuwara Eliya.

8. Day 8: Nuwara Eliya - Horton Plains - Journey in train

   • Go to the Horton Plains National Park.

     • See the Bakers’ Falls/ Worlds’ end and also trek in the national park.

   • Do a scenic train journey to Ella (Journey in the sky).

   • Trek to the Ravana Temple & Ravana caves.

   Overnight stay at Ella.

9. Day 9: Ella - Tissamaharama - Yala - Kataragama

   • Begin with a trek to little Adam’s peak.

   • See the Ravana Ella waterfalls. 

     • Visit the Buduruwagala Temple.

   • Do a safari through the Yala National Park.

   • See the Kataragama Temple.

   Overnight stay at Kataragama.

10. Day 10: Kataragama - Mirissa - Galle - Bentota

    • Explore the Ussangoda archaeological site.

    • Go to the Uummanaya Blow Hole.

    • Visit the Dondra Temple.

    • See the Galle Dutch Fort.

    • Enjoy a river safari.

    • Visit the Sea Turtle hatchery and research center. 

    • Proceed to the Beach Resort or Airport at Bentota.
