Itinerary
-
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast at the lodge, leave for the Tarangire National park. This is the third largest park in Tanzania and is characterized by large herds of elephants. The Baobab trees are one of the other highlights of Tarangire. The Tarangire River that flows all year round is the lifeblood of the park. Many animals, predators and preys alike gather around the river where you can enjoy excellent game viewing.
After the game drive in the evening or the late afternoon, return to your lodge and prepare for a 2-hour walking tour with the ranger.
Overnight at Tarangire River Camp.
130 kilometres - two hours drive.
-
Day 2: Tarangire to Serengeti National Park
Breakfast will be served at 06:00 am and pick up will be at 07:00 am for a drive to the Serengeti National Park, with your picnic lunches. En route, enjoy game drives in the Ngorongoro crater rim.
Serengeti National Park is the home to lions, leopards, elephants, cheetahs, buffalos, zebras, wildebeests, elands, wild dogs, gazelles, crocodiles and more. Serengeti is one of the most comprehensive and appealing internet presentations on nature, conservation and research, in general. Every day, hundreds of nature-lovers and tourists from all over the world visit the virtual Serengeti.
Experience the life of local Maasai people around Lake Manyara.
Overnight at Seronera Campsite.
-
Day 3: Central Serengeti to North Game
After breakfast, continue with the game drives in Serengeti National Park. Serengeti is a large park, and your game drives will depend on the move of the migrant animals. Your guide knows how to locate the herd.
Serengeti National Park is famous for the 'Great Migration'; over one million wildebeest and two hundred thousand plus zebras follow the rains every year. In October and November, they travel from the mountains of the north, southwards to the plains seeking lush pastures. After the great rainy season in April, May, and June, the herd makes their return journey.
Even without this mass migration, the Serengeti is an exciting and spectacular place that still cannot fail to enthral visitors.
Dinner and overnight at Seronera Campsite.
-
Day 4: Northern Serengeti Game Drive
After breakfast, we will go on a game drive, following the animal migration at the Northern Serengeti.
See wildebeest, zebra, hartebeest, eland, antelope, hyena, and many varieties of birds surrounded by the beautiful landscape.
Usually, in the month of August and November, the migration reaches its northern range - the grasslands on either bank of the crocodile-infested Mara River, which the herds must cross not once, but twice as they complete their migration.
Also, we will be able to enjoy the sunset at Serengeti between 06:20 pm - 06.40 pm after the game drive.
Late in the evening, return to overnight at Seronera Campsite.
-
Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, continue with the game viewing in Serengeti for three hours.
After that, proceed with the game drive en route to Ngorongoro.
Arrive at Nabi gate for lunch.
After lunch, proceed to Ngorongoro Conservation area for dinner and overnight at Simba Campsite.
-
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater to Lake Manyara
Start the game drive (with a picnic lunch) inside the Ngorongoro Crater at 7:00 am.
As very few animals migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000 ft. high walls, you can expect to see lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, many birds and other species.
Your driver or guide will be in contact with other safari drivers and will amaze you with his skill in locating the hidden animals.
After exploration in Ngorongoro Crater, drive to Panorama campsite for dinner and overnight.
-
Day 7: Lake Manyara to Arusha
After breakfast, the journey continues to the village of Mto Wa Mbu near Lake Manyara. Over the years, the village has attracted people from various ethnic groups, and the wide variety of backgrounds has created a multicultural atmosphere in Mto Wa Mbu.
Lunch is prepared by a communal women's group and served at a local compound. It consists of a wide variety of African dishes, giving you the opportunity to taste traditional food.
After this wonderful experience, visit the Lake Manyara National Park.
On the lakeshore, observe elephants, hippopotami, buffalos, guenons, banded mongooses and numerous types of gazelles and antelopes. Furthermore, the park is well known for its tree-climbing lions. Visitors can regularly observe lions taking a nap in the tree canopies to escape the heat on the ground.
After watching the animals and exploring the national park, leave the park in the afternoon and travel to the Kirurumu Manyara Lodge.
Soon, the higher lands are reached, and a wonderful view of the Maasai Plains and Lake Manyara opens up before you.
Photo stops can be taken en route, and you will be able to enjoy the spectacular views.
