Travel to Antisana Ecological Reserve and visit Antisana Volcano, the most impressive Andean mountain near Quito and a sanctuary for the wild Andean condor and other birds.
Drive along the foothills of the volcano and arrive at the entrance to Antisana Park Reserve.
See the magnificent basaltic gorge of Antisana Volcano.
Visit the wetlands, see rare species of tundra plants, and look for exotic Andean birds such as the Carunculated Caracara and Black-headed Ibis.
Look for Andean rabbits such as Sylvilagus brasiliensis and white-tailed deer called Odocoileus virginianus.
Hike to the glacier of Antisana and then descend to Micacocha Lake, where you have the chance to watch Andean gulls, speckled teals, and the typical birds of the Andean water systems.
Observe and recognise Andean floral species such as cushion plants, ranunculo plants, gentians, and others.
