Walking Tour of Roman and Historic St Albans
Meet your guide at your local hotel or train/tube station. Then, take the train to St Albans.
Visit the Roman remains of the city walls before walking up the hill to see the magnificent St Albans Abbey, the ancient cathedral of the city and the resting place of an early Christian martyr. St Albans is full of history, from the near overthrow of Roman rule by Queen Boudicea, who burned the city and massacred its population, to more recent Civil War battles.
Visit the authentic English market or the ancient church, which is supposedly the resting place of Sir Francis Bacon. Optional visits to the Roman Museum and outdoor coliseum can also be made.
