7-Day Ethiopia Historical Tour with Lalibela, Aksum and Lake Tana

• You will be picked up by your guide from the airport, transferred to your hotel, and assisted with check-in.

• Begin your sightseeing in Addis with a tour of Mount Entoto, known for its spectacular panoramic views over the city. Then descend and drive to the National Museum, where you will have a chance to explore the oldest hominids, including the 'Lucy' fossil.

• Visit the Holy Trinity Cathedral, built during World War II. Then proceed to the Ethnographic Museum, which was once the palace of Emperor Haile Selassie.

• Return to the hotel and stay the night in Addis.

• Reach the airport to board your flight to Bahir Dar. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel in Bahir Dar.

• Take a boat cruise on Lake Tana to visit the 14th-century Monastery of Ura Kidane Mihret, one of the most famous monasteries on the Zege Peninsula.

• In the afternoon, drive to the village of Tis Isat to see the Blue Nile Falls. Please note that the volume of water could be minimal because of the construction of the new dam.

Stay the night in Bahir Dar.

• After breakfast, travel to Gondar, the royal capital of Ethiopia, founded by Emperor Fasilides in 1636.

• In the afternoon, visit the city of Gondar and drive to the castles and churches built by Emperor Fasilides and his descendants.

• Proceed to Debre Birhan Selassie Church (the Enlightening of Trinity), the most famous place of worship in Gondar.

Stay the night in Gondar.

• Board a flight to Aksum, once known as the Aksumite Empire or the Kingdom of Aksum. With more than 2500 years of history, the city is home to the original Ark of the Covenant and is one of the prime historical sites in northern Ethiopia.

• Take a tour of the city and visit St. Mary's Church and the Sanctuary Chapel, which is the repository of the 'Ark of the covenant'. You will also visit places of interest such as the coronation yard, Stelae Park, the Tomb of Kaleb and his son Gebre Meskel, Ezana's Inscriptions, Queen of Sheba's Bath, the ruins of Queen of Sheba's palace, and the Aksum Museum.

Stay the night at the hotel in Aksum.

• Board a flight from Aksum to Lalibela, a city famous for its underground rock-hewn cathedrals.

• In the afternoon, visit the top attractions of Lalibela, including the Church of St. George, Bete Medhane Alem Church, Bete Amanuel Church, and the Tomb of Adam.

Stay the night in Lalibela.

• Board a flight from Lalibela to return to Addis. Attend a folkloric dinner where you will taste several national dishes and watch ethnic performances by dancers from Africa. A traditional coffee ceremony will also be held.

• Return to the hotel and rest.

• Take an outbound flight to your next destination.
