Aquila Safari and Scenic Cape Drive
Pick up from your accommodation at around 6 AM for the approximately 2-hour drive to the rural town of Touws River, where the wildlife reserve is situated.
Drive along the N1 highway past some of the historic towns of the Cape Peninsula, including Stellenbosch and Paarl, and view the Taal Monument from the highway.
Cross over the Hottentots-Holland Mountain Range on the east side of the Cape Peninsula.
Stop to admire the views from the majestic Du Toit's Kloof Pass with Table Mountain in the backdrop. Look down at the town of Paarl with its towering monolith, Paarl Rock, which was discovered by the Dutch pioneer Abraham Gabema in 1657 while searching for fresh meat supplies.
Continue through the majestic mountain range towering above the pass. Take pictures before proceeding through the historical town of Worcester onto Touws River.
Arrive at the reserve and enjoy welcome drinks and a buffet breakfast.
After breakfast, board 4 x 4 safari trucks to begin the 3-hour safari to view the wildlife.
Return in time for a buffet lunch before departure for Cape Town.
Along the way, stop for grapes or other produce that is available, depending on the season.
Return via the Huguenot Tunnel back to the hotel, or, if time allows, travel via Bains Kloof Pass with breathtaking views through the quaint little missionary town of Wellington, which has a rich history.
