Itinerary

1. Day 1: Trek from Lalibela to Wedebye

   • Trek from Lalibela to Wedebye (3600m altitude, 6 hours), which will give you a 360-degree view of the surrounding area. Pass through few villages and farms; this will be your first day to know how the local community lives in the mountains.

   • Take a short break for snacks at Mount Hudad (3300m). Embark to see groups of Gelada baboons (endemic to Ethiopia) and other mammals.

   • Walk into one of the villages close to Wedebye and learn about the local people's lives, including farming practices, cattle rearing, and local traditions or walk to the children’s school to teach any subject you would like to teach. Spend the remaining afternoon enjoying the silence of Wedebye and overlooking the sunset.

   • Gather around the fire to experience the lovely tradition of local people, who welcome their guests by washing their feet; some of our clients call it foot massage. 

   • Be presented with a lovely typical traditional dance of the Highland Tribes; you can enjoy the music until your time for bed.

2. Day 2: Trek from Wedebye to Mount Abuna Yosef

   • Trek from Wedebye to the top of Mount Abuna Yosef at an altitude of 4300m. 
   • Spend your day at the Abuna Yosef community conservation area. Get surprised with a lunch at the top of Mount Abuna Yosef, overlooking the panoramic view of the area.
   • Travel to the big and small viewpoints; this viewpoint will allow you to see the endless chain mountains of Sekota. Visit different Fauna and flora, visit swarm of Ghelada baboons, red fox (rare chance to see), plenty of Birds and lots of Fauna and flora of the area.
   • Spend much of your day at Mount Abuna Yosef and go to Tigu Keble in the other direction for an overnight stay.
   • Have a campfire under the stars and moon. Today the dance will be by you and the staff. Enjoy the local traditional dance and music; you will be invited to dance the unique Ethiopian traditional dance.

3. Day 3: Trek from Tigu Keble to Lalibela

   • Trek from Tigu Keble to Lalibela for about 8 hours.

   • Pass through different villages and learn about local crops on different plateaus and admire the specular view till your reach Lalibela. On the way have some time at Hudad to watch the Gelada baboons, birds and other mammals of the area.
