Take a boat ride on the Tsiribihina River, a journey that can be enjoyed throughout the year from Miandrivazo to Belo/Tsiribihina. Along the way, discover riverside landscapes, villages, wildlife, and camping on the riverbank, then continue to visit the Baobab in Love and the famous Avenue of the Baobabs. The itinerary

Day 01

Miandrivazo to Nosy Ampela by Boat

  • Breakfast at your hotel.

  • Complete customs and formalities at the mayor's office before departure.

  • Transfer to the dock by car.

  • Ride through the Bemaraha mountains and visit a waterfall and natural swimming pool. Along the riverfront, see large areas of tobacco plantations, beans, rice, and other food crops.

  • Lunch and dinner on board, followed by a campfire and a small party on the beach in the evening.

  • Camp under the tents.

Day 02

Nosy Ampela to Tsaraotana with Village and Lemur Sightings

  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner in full board.

  • Visit the tobacco farmers' village in Begidro.

  • Visit the village of Berevo. Spot two species of lemurs in the forest; sometimes, these lemurs can also be seen on the river shore drinking water. See the baobab trees growing along the riverside, then enjoy a campfire and a small party on the beach in the evening.

  • Camp under the tents.

Tsaraotana to Morondava via Belo/Tsiribihina

  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner in full board.

  • Transfer by 4x4 vehicle to Morondava from Belo/Tsiribihina's dock.

  • Visit the sacred baobab, the Baobab in Love, and the famous Avenue of the Baobabs.

  • Drop off at your hotel and overnight in Morondava.

What to bring

Please bring the following items during the tour:

  • Depending on the season.
  • During the dry season from August to December, you need to bring light clothing.
  • During the rainy season from December to March, you need to bring a raincoat.
  • During the winter, from April to July, you need to bring warm clothing.
  • Through all seasons, you have to wear hard shoes while trekking, especially when you trek through Tsingy National Park.
  • Do not forget to bring your sunscreen, mosquito repellent, and flashlight. Sometimes, the power does not work 24/7 in the countryside of Madagascar.

Know before you go

  • Hiring a local guide is mandatory when you visit any park in Madagascar.
  • If you bring USD bills, make sure they were issued after 2010. In Madagascar, no money changer company accepts USD bills issued before 2010.
