Explore the Ruins and Ribeira of Cidade Velha

Start from the verdant ribeira of Cidade Velha and explore a few of the old city's important ruins before going to the main square. This ribeira is quite lush, with a wide variety of trees and canyons on either side.
Head to Seward and see mango trees, papaya trees, palm trees, acacias, and baobab trees.
Pass by several grogue distilleries and you may be invited to sample some of their grogue (Cape Verdean alcohol). Many owners might enjoy demonstrating how their distillery operates.
