The itinerary

Day 01

Arrival in Bucharest and City Tour

  • We will pick you up from the airport and take you to the hotel on the first day.
  • Depending on your arrival time, we will begin a city tour of Bucharest, including a pedestrian tour of the historical centre, as well as visits to the Palace of the Parliament and the Village Museum.

Day 02

To Brașov via Sinaia and Peleș Castle

  • After breakfast, we will depart for the medieval town of Brașov.
  • On the way, we will stop in Sinaia to see the former summer royal residence and Peleș Castle, undeniably one of the most beautiful castles in Europe.
  • Reach Brașov in the afternoon and explore the Old City.

Day 03

Transylvania Drive to Sighișoara Citadel

  • Drive to Transylvania to visit Sighișoara Citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage centre.
  • On the way, we will stop in Viscri village to visit the fortified church.

Day 04

Saxon Villages and Arrival in Sibiu

  • Today we leave for Sibiu. En route, explore the Saxon villages of Mălâncrav and Biertan, known for their old fortified churches.
  • Reach Sibiu and visit the Old City.

Day 05

Sibiu Tour and Corvin Castle Visit

  • Enjoy a full-day tour of Sibiu.
  • Bonus: visit the medieval Corvin Castle.

Day 06

To Maramureș via Turda Salt Mine

  • From Sibiu, drive to Maramureș.
  • Stop at the impressive Turda Salt Mine.
  • In the evening, arrive in the traditional village of Breb in Maramureș, where we will stay for 3 days in a traditional wooden house with old furniture. You will also enjoy traditional meals prepared by locals.

Day 07

Maramureș Churches, Heritage Sites, and Mocănița

  • While in Maramureș, visit the wooden churches in Budești, Desești, Ieud, and Bârsana.
  • Get a perspective on ancient ways of life by visiting the watermill in Sârbi village.
  • The Merry Cemetery in Săpânța and the anti-communism fighters memorial in Sighet will also be part of our program.
  • On one of the days, we will take the Mocănița steam train for a fantastic ride through forests, valleys, and remote villages.

Full Day in Maramureș

  • Spend the day exploring Maramureș.

Journey to Bucovina via Moldovița Monastery

  • From Maramureș, drive to Bucovina in the northeast of Romania.
  • On the way, stop at Moldovița Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Painted Monasteries and Transfer to Iași

  • In the morning, visit two painted monasteries, Voroneț and Humor, both listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Day 11

To Crișan Village and Sunset Boat Ride

  • From Iași, we will travel towards the Danube River in the southeast of Romania.
  • From Tulcea, we will be transferred to Crișan village in the Danube Delta.
  • In the evening, we will admire the sunset from a boat on one of the lakes there.

Day 12

Full-Day Exploration of the Danube Delta

  • Explore the amazing Danube Delta all day.
  • We will take a boat ride to admire narrow channels, wildlife, birds, animals, and remote villages.

Return to Bucharest from Tulcea

  • In the morning, we will be transferred to Tulcea, and from there begin our drive back to Bucharest.
