5-Day Tanzania Safari through Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire

• After breakfast in Arusha town, meet your tour guide and drive to Tarangire National Park for game drives and excellent wildlife viewing. Tarangire is a small park that offers some excellent sights. During the dry season, the park comes alive as wildlife and birdlife gather around the Tarangire River, a permanent water source.

• Eat lunch at the lodge and rest for a while.

• In the evening, head out for an evening game drive.

• After sunset, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

• After breakfast, drive through Ngorongoro to the Serengeti Plains with a packed lunch.

• Enjoy game viewing in Ngorongoro on the way to Serengeti National Park.

• Explore Serengeti National Park with an early game drive to witness nocturnal dwellers returning to their covers.

• Spend time at the Hippo Pool, watching these majestic animals laze about in the cool water while living alongside crocodiles. You may also watch a big pride of lions and, if the timing is right, find yourself in the middle of the migration - sometimes surrounded by wildebeest, sometimes by zebras, which travel with them.

• Travel from the wide-open plains to the kopjes. These volcanic rocky outcrops provide protection and shelter for a wide variety of animals, and from the top, you can look out across the vast grasslands of the Serengeti.

• Continue with afternoon game drives in the Serengeti, breaking off for lunch at the lodge or campsite.

• In the evening, go for another game drive.

• After sunset, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

• After breakfast in the morning, drive to Ngorongoro Crater and descend 2000 ft to the crater floor with a picnic lunch for a crater tour and sightseeing.

• Explore "Africa's Eden Garden." Ngorongoro is a huge and deep volcanic crater with rich pasture, swamps, forest, and permanent water on the crater floor. That is why the wildlife here is so diverse and numerous.

Dinner and overnight stay at Ngorongoro or Karatu.

• After an early breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara Park for a game drive with a packed lunch. The forest begins just after you cross the park gate, and much of the park is covered by the lake. It lies along the base of the Great Rift Valley, and you will also come across the hot spring to the west of the park.

• See tree-climbing lions, buffalos, giraffes, hippos, troops of baboons, flamingos, ostriches, Egyptian geese, and other animals and birds.

• In the afternoon, drive to Arusha, where the tour ends.
