Nagarkot, Changu, or Sankhu Hiking Experience
- You can choose either of the following two options for your tour itinerary:
- Option 1:
- Nagarkot-Changu-Nagarkot takes you to the nearest hill station from Kathmandu, Nagarkot (32 km / 2100 m), which is popular for sunrise, sunset, and panoramic views of snow-capped mountain ranges. Changu, at 22 km / 1450 m, is one of the oldest temples and is set in a small Newar village.
- The hiking trail passes through a community-preserved forest and ethnic villages. Say hello to the sweet kids and villagers, who will welcome you in their unique way. Take this opportunity to interact with the locals and make your hike more comfortable and memorable.
You can choose either a downhill or an uphill hike from or to Changu-Nagarkot.
Duration: Approximately 4-5 hours.
- Option 2:
- Sankhu-Nagarkot-Sankhu leads through Sankhu, a medieval Newar town (18 km) that is home to the famous Bajrayogini temple on the hilltop.
- Traditional houses and the locals' typical living style are the area's major attractions.
- Most of the hiking trail follows a gravelled motorable road, except for some shortcuts, and passes through a few Tamang villages and green terraces.
You can choose either a downhill or an uphill hike from or to Sankhu-Nagarkot.
