Arrival in Pangkalan Bun and Cruise to Tanjung Harapan
Upon arrival in Pangkalan Bun, you will be met and transferred to Kumai to board the Kelotok.
As you leave the Kumai River, you will have the opportunity to observe daily riverfront life. Borneo has many rivers, so boats remain one of the main forms of transportation here.
You may also see the tall swiftlet nesting houses with tiny holes, where semi-wild swift birds build nests that are later harvested.
Then, cruise to the Sekonyer River, an estuarine habitat with unique mangrove vegetation, before making your first stop at Tanjung Harapan Camp to watch orangutan feeding at 15:00.
Along the riverbanks, look out for wildlife such as the Proboscis monkey - an endemic monkey of Borneo - as well as Long-tailed macaques, Red leaf monkeys, Silvered langurs, and birdlife along the riverside.
After watching the orangutans, continue cruising downstream to look for groups of Proboscis monkeys, another endemic primate of Borneo.
The crew will look for a good place to anchor the boat and spend the night on the Kelotok beneath the fireflies. If the weather is good, with no rain or wind, you may see millions of fireflies glowing like a Christmas tree, although this cannot be guaranteed. We will do our best to find the best possible place.
Dinner beneath the fireflies. Meals provided: B, L, D.
