11-Day Wakhan Corridor and Little Pamir Expedition
Day 1 | Tajikistan Border - Kunduz - Faizabad
Begin the journey by crossing from Tajikistan into Afghanistan. After completing immigration and visa formalities, meet your Afghan guide and driver before beginning the scenic drive east toward Badakhshan Province.
The road gradually climbs into the mountains as you follow the Kokcha River toward Faizabad, the provincial capital and gateway to the Wakhan Corridor.

Day 2 | Faizabad - Ishkashim
Travel through spectacular mountain scenery to the historic border town of Ishkashim, where the Afghan Wakhan begins.
Upon arrival, complete the required Wakhan permits and registrations, followed by time to purchase supplies, snacks, and any last-minute essentials before entering one of Afghanistan's most remote regions.

Day 3 | Ishkashim - Khandud - Qala-e-Panj
Today marks the beginning of your journey through the legendary Wakhan Corridor.
Drive alongside the Panj River with magnificent views toward Tajikistan while passing traditional Wakhi villages and fertile green valleys beneath towering snow-capped peaks.
En route:
- Visit Khandud to complete local registration formalities.
- Enjoy continuous views toward Noshaq, Afghanistan's highest mountain (7,492 m).
Arrive in Qala-e-Panj, an important settlement deep within the Wakhan Valley.

Day 4 | Qala-e-Panj - Sarhad-e-Broghil
Continue eastward as the valley narrows dramatically and civilization becomes increasingly remote.
Along the journey:
- Visit the famous Bibi Fatima Hot Springs, a centuries-old natural thermal spring treasured by local communities.
- Stop for photography along one of the most scenic sections of the Wakhan.
Reach Sarhad-e-Broghil, the final permanent village accessible by road and the traditional starting point for expeditions into the Little Pamir.

Day 5 | Sarhad-e-Broghil - Acclimatization and Cultural Exploration
Spend a relaxed day acclimatizing before heading into the high Pamirs.
Activities include:
- Walking through the village
- Visiting Wakhi homes
- Exploring nearby valleys
- Returning to the nearby hot springs
- Meeting local families and learning about Wakhi traditions
This extra day greatly improves comfort before traveling to higher elevations.

Day 6 | Sarhad-e-Broghil - Borak - Little Pamir - Chaqmaqtin Lake
Leave the Wakhan Valley behind and enter the vast open landscapes of the Little Pamir.
Pass through the small Wakhi settlement of Borak before climbing onto the spectacular Pamir Plateau, where immense skies, endless grasslands, and distant snow peaks dominate the horizon.
Continue toward the Bozai Gumbaz area, known for its distinctive domed tombs, before reaching the shores of magnificent Chaqmaqtin Lake, one of Afghanistan's most remote alpine lakes.

Day 7 | Little Pamir - Life Among the Afghan Kyrgyz
Spend a full day immersed in the remarkable culture of the Afghan Kyrgyz.
Visit traditional yurts, observe daily nomadic life, and learn about centuries-old pastoral traditions that have changed little over generations.
Optional activities include:
- Horseback riding
- Short hikes across alpine valleys
- Visits to seasonal grazing areas
- Exploring nearby lakes and caravan trails

Day 8 | Little Pamir - Qala-e-Panj
Begin the return journey westward through the magnificent landscapes of the Little Pamir.
Retrace the route via Borak and Sarhad-e-Broghil before descending once again into the greener valleys of the Wakhan.

Day 9 | Qala-e-Panj - Ishkashim
Continue following the Wakhan River back toward Ishkashim.

Day 10 | Ishkashim - Faizabad - Kunduz
Depart the Wakhan Corridor and begin the long drive west through Badakhshan toward Kunduz.
The journey follows winding mountain roads before descending into northern Afghanistan.

Day 11 | Kunduz - Tajikistan Border
After breakfast, drive to the Tajikistan border.
Complete immigration formalities and cross back into Tajikistan, where your unforgettable journey through Afghanistan's Wakhan Corridor and the Little Pamir concludes.
