Day 9 - 10 | Chobe National Park, Riverfront
Enjoy breakfast before continuing your journey north. Your destination is the majestic Chobe River, near which your camp will be set up.
Once again, you can appreciate the advantages of a mobile camping safari: you are right in the middle of the wildlife action, yet you do not have to give up comforts such as a real bed and a private en suite bathroom with a warm shower. The Chobe River is the lifeblood of the many different animals found here. Keep your eyes open for hippos, lions, buffaloes, as well as puku and sable antelopes.
Despite boasting a variety of wildlife, Chobe National Park is most associated with its tremendous elephant herds. A single herd of elephants in Chobe can consist of up to 300 members, which is substantially higher than in other wildlife areas.
In the afternoon on Day 9, you take to the water on a boat cruise. Here, there are no bumpy or dusty roads to negotiate, and you can comfortably observe the various animals coming to the river's edge to drink.
When the sun throws its magical golden glow over the famous river, while you are surrounded by elephants and buffaloes and effortlessly glide along the water, you will understand why Chobe is such a special safari destination.
