Maun, Moremi and Khwai Mobile Safari

Day 1: Maun to Moremi Game Reserve

In the morning, meet your guide at your Maun lodge or hotel for pick-up at 08:30 AM after breakfast, then transfer to Moremi for your game drive.

In the afternoon, arrive at your designated wilderness campsite. Embark on an afternoon game drive to explore the floodplains and look for herds of elephants, hippos, and predators.

In the evening, enjoy a bush dinner under the stars followed by time around the campfire.

Day 2: Moremi Game Reserve

Enjoy early morning and afternoon game drives.

Explore diverse landscapes including mopane woodlands, permanent lagoons, and seasonal floodplains.

Day 3: Moremi to Khwai Concession

After breakfast, the camp is packed up as the group moves toward the Khwai Concession, which borders Moremi. This transition serves as an extended game drive en route. Upon arrival in Khwai, guests may engage in an afternoon activity, such as a game drive along the Khwai River, which is known for frequent sightings of wild dogs, leopards, and large elephant herds.

Day 4: Exploring the Khwai River Area

Activities include early morning game drives focused on tracking predators and observing the rich birdlife along the riverbanks.

A mokoro excursion offers a traditional dugout canoe trip through the winding channels and lagoons of the Khwai River, subject to seasonal water levels.

Because it is a community concession, Khwai also allows nocturnal game drives to spot elusive species like civets, genets, and honey badgers.

Day 5: Khwai to Maun

After a final early morning game drive and breakfast, the group begins the journey back to Maun. Guests are typically dropped off at Maun International Airport or their respective hotels in the afternoon for onward connections.

End of tour.

Additional accommodation can be arranged for an extra cost.

You'll be dropped off at the airport.

Know before you go

  • Campsite setup: You will sleep in comfortable, walk-in canvas tents. Most setups feature camp beds with real linens, a small bucket shower filled by staff, and a private bush toilet.
  • Unfenced wilderness: Because campsites lack fences, wild animals frequently walk right through camp. You must zip your tent at all times and stay inside after dark.
  • Digital detox: Mobile camps are completely off-grid. Prepare to be disconnected, with no WiFi or cell service.
  • Early starts: Days begin early with pre-sunrise wake-up calls, around 5:30 AM, to catch predators at their most active.
  • Game drives: You will spend hours bouncing along uneven tracks in open 4x4 safari vehicles.
  • Camp life: You return to camp for hot meals prepared by the support crew, swapping stories around the campfire.
