Syriac Sacred Sites of Tur Abdin
- We begin this enchanting day at the magnificent Deyrulzafaran Monastery, the beating heart of the Syriac patriarchate.
- As the sun climbs, we follow the curve of the Syria border to the serene village of Nusaybin, where we visit the ancient Mor Yakup Monastery, home to what is considered the world's first university.
- Next, we savor a peaceful lunch by the Beyazsu river, nestled in a hidden haven among trees and flowing waters. Refreshed, we ascend to the crown jewel of Tur Abdin, Mor Gabriel Monastery, a beacon of faith in the mountains.
- Then, we journey to the Church of Virgin Mary in the village of Anıtlı, a quiet sanctuary full of history.
- Finally, as the golden evening descends, we wander through the abandoned beauty of Dere İçi Village, where the echoes of the past whisper through Mor Yuhannon Church, before we return to Mardin at dusk.
