Itinerary

1. Day 1: Hanging Bridges, Sloth Watching and Night Walk Adventure

   • 8:00 am Begin the day with a guided visit to the Hanging Bridges at Mistico Park, exploring the rainforest canopy through a 3 km trail with fixed and hanging bridges overlooking the Arenal Volcano.
   • Walk across 10 fixed bridges and 6 hanging bridges while observing orchids, bromeliads, palms and tropical wildlife high above the forest floor.
   • 2:30 pm Enjoy an ethical sloth tour around the Arenal and La Fortuna area to observe sloths in their natural habitat using mounted telescopes with expert naturalist guides.
   • Spot Costa Rican wildlife including toucans, monkeys, hummingbirds, iguanas and Blue Jeans Poison-dart Frogs during the experience.
   • 5:45 pm Experience a guided night walk adventure through the rainforest to discover Costa Rica’s nocturnal wildlife and amphibians.
   • Observe species such as the Red-eyed Tree Frog, Glass Frog, snakes, nocturnal mammals and owls while learning about the rainforest ecosystem after dark.

2. Day 2: Waterfall, Butterfly Garden and Chocolate Experience

   • 8:30 am Visit the butterfly garden and learn about butterflies and their ecological importance with a guided experience led by an insect expert.
   • Continue to La Fortuna Waterfall through a scenic rainforest trail with approximately 530 steps leading to the impressive 70-metre waterfall.
   • Swim in the crystal-clear natural pool or relax while surrounded by rainforest landscapes and towering cliffs.
   • Explore the Arenal Oasis Butterfly Dome, the largest butterfly conservatory in Costa Rica, home to Blue Morpho butterflies, Monarchs and other colourful species.
   • 2:00 pm Discover a local family-owned organic cacao farm during an immersive chocolate tour experience.
   • Learn about cacao history, taste traditional chocolate drinks prepared with ancient Mayan tools and create your own chocolate bars.
   • Enjoy freshly pressed sugarcane juice and browse handcrafted artisanal chocolate products made on-site.

3. Day 3: Canopy Adventure and Arenal Volcano Hike

   • 9:30 am Begin an exciting canopy tour featuring 12 cables and 13 platforms stretching across 2.8 kilometres of lush rainforest.
   • Glide through the treetops at heights between 20 and 60 metres while enjoying panoramic rainforest views on cables reaching up to 500 metres long.
   • Receive a safety briefing and guidance from professional instructors before starting the adventure suitable for all ages.
   • 2:00 pm Join the Arenal Volcano Lava Trail Hike through the El Silencio area, known for its primary and secondary rainforests and ancient lava fields.
   • Learn about the 1968 eruption of Arenal Volcano and explore the region’s fascinating geology, biodiversity and wildlife with an expert local guide during the 2-hour hike.
