New Zealand Battlefield Tour in Messines, Passendale and Ypres
Start the tour around 09:00 am from the hotel.
Visit the New Zealand Memorial on the slopes of Messines, Belgium's smallest town.
Go to the visitor centre on the square, where the statue of the New Zealand Soldier stands. It was unveiled on ANZAC Day in 2015.
Visit the church and its crypt. Stand where Samuel Frickelton won his Victoria Cross for taking two machine gun positions.
Have lunch and go to 'Nine Elms' Cemetery near Poperinge to visit David Gallaher's grave, one of the 'All Blacks'.
Proceed to Zonnebeke and Passendale to visit the Tyne Cot Military Cemetery and Memorial. This is the CWGC's largest cemetery in Europe.
Go to Gravenstafel, where David Gallaher was killed during the Battle of Passendale, also known as the Third Battle of Ypres.
Drive towards Ypres and enjoy some free time before attending the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate.
Return to the hotel.
