Village Cultural Experience near Victoria Falls
9:00 AM | Hotel Pickup: Your guide will collect you from your hotel or lodge in the Victoria Falls town area in an air-conditioned vehicle. This is a good opportunity to ask any initial questions about the community you are about to visit. The drive to the village takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
9:30 AM | Arrival and Welcome: Upon arrival at the village, you will be greeted by your local host or village guide. A brief introduction explains the layout of the village, the families who live there, and the protocol for your visit. This is also the moment to meet any village elders who may be participating in the tour.
9:45 AM | Village Walk and Homestead Visits: Your guide will lead you through the village to visit several homesteads. You will observe traditional kitchens and food storage methods such as granaries, see livestock areas and learn about subsistence farming, visit family homes and hear about daily routines, and meet local artisans while observing traditional crafts such as basket weaving or wood carving. This portion of the tour is interactive, and guests are encouraged to ask questions and engage with the villagers.
10:30 AM | Hands-On Activity or Demonstration: Depending on the day and season, you may be invited to participate in daily activities such as preparing a traditional meal, fetching water from the community well, tending crops in the fields, grinding grain, or shelling maize. Alternatively, you may enjoy demonstrations of traditional dancing, drumming, or cooking.
11:15 AM | Time for Connection: This portion allows for unstructured interaction where you may sit with villagers, share stories, or visit the local craft area to browse and purchase handmade items directly from artisans. If you have brought small gifts for the community, this is the appropriate time to offer them to your guide or host for distribution.
11:45 AM | Departure and Transfer: You will say your goodbyes to the village community and board the vehicle for the return journey to Victoria Falls. The drive back offers time to reflect on the morning's experiences.
12:00 PM | Drop-Off: You will be returned to your original accommodation, concluding the tour.
