Itinerary

1. Day 1: Travel to Makgadikgadi Pans and Sunset Views

   • Drive from Maun to the Makgadikgadi Pans, a journey of approximately three to four hours across Botswana’s striking desert landscapes.
   • Arrive at your lodge or camp near the pans and settle into your accommodation.
   • Watch the sunset over the endless salt flats and admire the surreal reflections across the pans, with flamingos visible during certain seasons.
   • Enjoy dinner under the stars in the quiet desert surroundings.

2. Day 2: Meerkat Encounter, Game Drive and Stargazing

   • Join a guided sunrise meerkat encounter and observe these curious animals as they emerge from their burrows and begin their daily activities.
   • Take a midday game drive through the surrounding grasslands in search of springbok, gemsbok, and possibly brown hyena.
   • Relax at the camp in the afternoon or enjoy a guided walk with your ranger to learn more about the desert ecosystem.
   • Experience stargazing in the evening, as the Makgadikgadi Pans offer some of the clearest night skies in Africa.

3. Day 3: Cultural Experience and Return to Maun

   • Visit the San bushmen in the morning and learn about their traditional survival skills including tracking, foraging, and storytelling.
   • Enjoy a leisurely brunch before departure.
   • Drive back to Maun in the afternoon.
