4-Day Santa Cruz Trek from Huaraz with Punta Union Pass

• Leave Huaraz around 7 am from your hotel and drive along the Callejón de Huaylas.

• Pass through several villages, such as Carhuaz, Yungay, and Caraz.

• Continue to the Cashapampa trailhead and meet the donkey guide.

• Start hiking up through a narrow and hot valley.

• Hike uphill for about 2 hours, then have lunch under the shade of a tree.

• Continue through an almost flat area to reach the first camp at Llamacorral.

• After an Andean breakfast at the campsite, hike along the moderate valley.

• Enjoy views of the beautiful turquoise lakes Ichicocha and Jatuncocha.

• Arrive at a picnic spot for lunch.

• After lunch, hike up to the Alpamayo South Base Camp to take photos.

• Return for a short walk and then continue trekking for a few hours to the next camp at Taullipampa.

• After breakfast at the campsite, start hiking again.

• Hike for 3 hours to reach the Punta Union pass.

• Enjoy spectacular views of mountains such as Taulliraju, Paria, Artesonraju, and others, as well as the beautiful lake of Taullicocha.

• Continue hiking down to the Morococha lakes and arrive at Cachinapampa Camp.

• Continue with another 4 hours of hiking.

• After the last breakfast at the campsite, start hiking down the valley to Huaripampa.

• Climb up to reach Vaquería.

• Travel by minivan to Huaraz.

• Pass through quinoa forests and meadows as you move up to the pass.

• Approach the lakes and enjoy a picturesque view of the valley.

• See the east flank of Huascarán.

• Descend into the Llanganuco Valley.

• Drive out of the National Park to Huaraz.

Stay overnight.
