Itinerary

1. Day 1 : Arrival & Journey to Hell's Gate

   • Morning: Your dedicated guide welcomes you at your Nairobi hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). We drive north, descending into the dramatic Great Rift Valley.
   • Afternoon: Enter Hell's Gate National Park. You are met by your Maasai warrior hosts. Check into our exclusive fly camp within the park.
   • Evening: Gather around the fire for an introductory talk from your Maasai guides and Masai elders, sharing legends of this iconic landscape.

   Overnight: Masai Manyatta Homestay, Hell's Gate National Park.

2. Day 2 : Exploring Hell's Gate with Maasai Guides

   • Morning: Embark on a walking safari through the park’s gorge. Your Maasai guides reveal hidden geothermal streams and interpret the land.
   • Afternoon: Horseback Safari. Mount gentle horses for a silent ride across the savannah, getting close to zebra, giraffe, and buffalo.
   • Evening: Visit a traditional Maasai manyatta. Share tea and learn about pastoralist traditions from the family.

3. Day 3 : To the Menengai Crater

   • Morning: Depart Hell's Gate after breakfast, driving north along the Rift Valley floor.
   • Afternoon: Arrive at the rim of the colossal Menengai Crater. Hike into this dormant volcano’s vast caldera with a local guide.
   • Evening: Check into Maili Saba Camp. Enjoy dinner with panoramic Rift Valley views.

4. Day 4 : Laikipia Plateau & Mugie Conservancy

   • Morning: Drive onto the vast Laikipia Plateau, a mosaic of community ranches and conservancies.
   • Afternoon: Arrive at Mugie Wildlife Conservancy. An afternoon game drive introduces this sanctuary for endangered species.
   • Evening: Settle into your classic safari tented camp on the conservancy.

5. Day 5 : To Malasso for Community Fly Camping

   • Morning: A final game drive in Mugie, then journey north towards the Mathews Range.
   • Afternoon: Enter the Malasso Community Conservancy. Meet your Samburu hosts for a guided nature walk.
   • Evening: Camel Ride & Fly Camping. Take a traditional camel ride at dusk. Our crew then sets up a fly camp in a remote spot for a bush dinner under the stars.

   Overnight: Fly Camp, Malasso Conservancy.

6. Day 6 : Into the Turkana Basin - Suguta Valley

   • Morning: An early start for the adventurous drive into Kenya’s northern frontier.
   • Afternoon: Descend into the breathtaking, desolate Suguta Valley, one of the hottest places on Earth. Take in the awe-inspiring vistas.
   • Evening: Our crew sets up your first mobile fly camp in this dramatic wilderness.

   Overnight: Mobile Fly Camp, Suguta Valley.

7. Day 7 : Lake Logipi & Paleontological Sites

   • Morning: Explore the flamingo-dotted shores of the saline Lake Logipi, with views of the Telekhi Volcano.
   • Afternoon: Visit Baragoi’s Nacholapithecus site, a key paleontological dig for Miocene-era fossils.
   • Evening: Set up camp in a new location, reflecting on the day’s discoveries.

   Overnight: Mobile Fly Camp, Lake Turkana Basin.

8. Day 8 : The Jade Sea at Loiyangalani

   • Morning: Drive to the eastern shore of the legendary Lake Turkana.
   • Afternoon: Visit the fascinating Loiyangalani Desert Museum, dedicated to the cultures of the lake’s tribes.
   • Evening: Check into a simple, breezy tented camp on the lakeshore.

9. Day 9 : Entering Sibiloi National Park

   • Morning: Enter the remote Sibiloi National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, via the Karsa Gate.
   • Afternoon: An introductory game drive to your fly camp site, spotting adapted wildlife like the Beisa oryx.
   • Evening: First night in the "Cradle of Mankind," with a lecture on the area’s significance.

   Overnight: Mobile Fly Camp, Sibiloi National Park.

10. Day 10 : Koobi Fora & The First Homo Erectus

    • Morning & Afternoon: Full-day exploration of the Koobi Fora fossil beds and museum. Stand at the site of the First Homo Erectus discovery and see petrified mangrove forests.
    • Evening: Return to camp for dinner under the vast desert sky.

    Overnight: Mobile Fly Camp, Sibiloi National Park.

11. Day 11 : Central Island & El Molo Immersion

    • Morning: Boat Trip to Central Island. Explore this volcanic island’s crater lakes, a major breeding ground for crocodiles.
    • Afternoon: Return to the mainland. Later, transfer to spend the night with an El Molo family. Share their simple hospitality and learn about Kenya’s smallest ethnic group.

    Overnight: El Molo Family Homestay, Lake Turkana.

12. Day 12 : Petrified Forest & Lake Vojnits András

    • Morning: Visit the incredible Petrified Forest, an ancient forest turned to stone.
    • Afternoon: Explore the remote Lake Vojnits András, another of the basin’s alkaline lakes.
    • Evening: Set up a final fly camp in Sibiloi, packing for the journey south.

13. Day 13 : To the Marsabit Highlands

    • Morning: Depart Sibiloi for the long, scenic drive to the highland oasis of Marsabit.
    • Afternoon: Arrive and check into your comfortable tented camp within Marsabit National Park.
    • Evening: Relax after the journey, enjoying the cool, misty air of the "Green Mountain."

    Overnight: Tented Camp, Marsabit National Park.

14. Day 14 : Exploring Marsabit National Park

    • Morning & Afternoon: Full day exploring the park’s misty forests and craters on game drives. Search for large-tusked elephants at Lake Paradise and visit Gof Redo crater.
    • Evening: Return to camp for a relaxing dinner.

    Overnight: Tented Camp, Marsabit National Park.

15. Day 15 : To the Mathews Range - Namunyak Conservancy

    • Morning: Drive south to the community-owned Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy.
    • Afternoon: Arrive at your camp. Your first adventure is a visit to the spectacular Rock Slide Water, a beautiful natural rock formation where you can enjoy a thrilling natural water slide into a refreshing pool.
    • Evening: Sundowners overlooking the conservancy’s dramatic hills.

    Overnight: Samburu Homestay, Namunyak Conservancy.

16. Day 16 : Singing Wells & Sacred Forests of Namunyak

    • Morning: Visit the Sarara Singing Wells, where Samburu warriors sing as they water their cattle—a spectacular cultural spectacle.
    • Afternoon: Guided hike to the Ngilai Sacred Forest, a pristine woodland protected by community belief.
    • Evening: Relax at camp, sharing stories of the day.

17. Day 17 : To the Samburu Ecosystem & Buffalo Springs

    • Morning: Depart Namunyak for the iconic arid-zone reserves.
    • Afternoon: Enter Shaba National Reserve. An afternoon game drive focuses on spotting arid-zone specialists. Later, proceed to Buffalo Springs for a highlight: a refreshing swim in the natural, jade-green Buffalo Springs—a rare chance to cool off in crystal-clear waters in the heart of the wilderness.
    • Evening: Check into Lion's Cave Camp on the banks of the Ewaso Ng'iro River.

    Overnight: Lion's Cave Camp, Buffalo Springs.

18. Day 18 : Game Drives in Samburu & Buffalo Springs

    • Morning & Afternoon: With packed lunches, explore both Samburu and Buffalo Springs National Reserves. Quest for the "Samburu Special Five": reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and gerenuk.
    • Evening: Return to Lion's Cave Camp for a sundowner by the river.

19. Day 19 : To the Highlands - Castle Forest

    • Morning: Bid farewell to the lowlands and ascend into the fertile highlands on the slopes of Mount Kenya.
    • Afternoon: Arrive at Castle Forest and check into our rustic fly camp. Enjoy a gentle forest walk.
    • Evening: Your final night in a wilderness fly camp, serenaded by forest sounds.

    Overnight: Fly Camp, Castle Forest Station.

20. Day 20 : Kamweti Waterfall Hike & Carnival Celebration

    • Morning: Guided hike through lush, indigenous forest to the breathtaking Kamweti Waterfall. Enjoy the cool spray and powerful cascade.
    • Afternoon: Return to Nairobi. Check into your day room at a city hotel to freshen up.
    • Evening: Grand Finale: Carnival Dinner at Safari Park Hotel. As our special guest, enjoy a vibrant feast of local cuisine at this iconic venue. The evening features live bands, traditional dancers, acrobats, and a carnival atmosphere—a perfect, joyful celebration of your Kenyan odyssey.

21. Day 21 : Departure

    • Morning: Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your hotel.
    • Afternoon: Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for some last-minute shopping or a visit to the Karen Blixen Museum.
