Ghorepani Poon Hill panoramic trekking is a wonderful adventure that takes you through forests and the gorge between massive green hills. It also introduces Nepal's culture and natural beauty, making the journey even more tantalizing. This Ghorepani-Poon Hill trail leads through dense rhododendron and Mongolian forests, across rain-fed landscapes, and through awe-inspiring hill vegetation, temperate forests, terraced rice fields, and the alpine zone.
On the way to the Poon Hill panoramic trek, you can see tiny thatched-roof villages set among terraced fields. This trek offers some of the finest views against the glorious snowy ranges of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri, including Machhapuchera (Fishtail), one of the most dignified peaks in the Himalayas. The journey begins from Pokhara, one of the most scenic and tourist-friendly areas of Nepal. It combines stunning mountain scenery with an ancient trans-Himalayan trade route, offering a diverse range of climate, vegetation, and culture. At the top of Poon Hill, you will be surrounded by an amphitheatre of snow peaks, including Annapurna (26,545 ft-8,091 m), Annapurna South (23,693 ft-7,219 m), Gangapurna (24,457 ft-7,455 m), the Annapurna Dhaulagiri massif mountain range, and even Manaslu to the east. On the return journey, descend through the lush terraced Modi Khola valley and conclude the adventure at Pokhara, known for Phewa Lake, Mahendra Cave, Davis Fall, and Buddhist Gompas. You can also see many paragliders in the sky above Pokhara taking off from Sarangkot, which is another excellent viewpoint for mountains such as Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri, and Manaslu above 8,000 m.
This Poon Hill trek also gives insight into the local Mongolian people living in the villages along the way.
